Title: Who is your male/female role model?
Post by: redhot1 on April 23, 2017, 03:12:45 PM
I saw this thread before but I think it got lost. Who is your male/female role model that you emulate or try to look up to?

Realistically, I'll have to go with Sara Gilbert (especially the image on the left), at least as far as looks go:

If I grew out my hair long enough, I could maybe look like her.

What do you think?

Patti Smith.  She's so beautiful and so very odd.  Had I been born as myself, I would hope to be very much like her.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170424/2d6bd7e6f2e31ada10b9b7b35e1edea4.jpg)

The list is too long to make, but I'll name a few:

Elizabeth Fraser.  She's the singer from the Cocteau Twins and she has the most amazing voice on the planet.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Y98fPyvfo

Bjork.  I'm incredibly envious of her in every way.

Janet Jackson.  Her 80's music is badass.

Paula Abdul.  She's insanely adoreable and a cheerleader (I wish I could have been one)

Sade.  Extraordinary beauty and incredible music.

Mari Yamaguchi.  I know it's likely no one here knows who she is, but she wrote the soundtrack to the video game Mega Man 5 (likely my favorite video game soundtrack of all time)

I'm noticing a trend here... they're all musicians, and I could easily list way more.

Kimbra! One of the most beautiful, talented women ever! Both her looks and musical style resonate with me, it is definitely my goal to be more like her! Long way to go though LOL

I'm really disappointed that I don't have any female role models who are trans.  I despise Caitlyn Jenner , I don't like Laverne Cox, I don't like Jazz Jennings, and I don't like Nicole Maines.  My reason is, none of them are artistically talented.

It occurs to me that this topic is under "cross dresser talk" when I assumed the question was about who our role models were with all elements of life considered, not just in relation to fashion.  I'm not a cross dresser.  Does this make my posts off-topic?

If you enjoy heavy genres of rock, there are Laura Jane Grace fom Against Me!, and Mina Caputo from life of agony.  I think they're both pretty talented and they seem like lovely people as well!

I always found Alexis Arquette a strong woman and a very interesting personality and was quite sad when she passed away. May she RIP.

The only person I truly looked up to when I was young was Shakira :')

Laverne Cox, Jamie Clayton and Jazz Jennings are awesome, i am not sure i actually model anything after them, but i think of them as really supportive. Kinda funny that actors are often where we go when we think of people like this.

I would love for that group to also include scientists, teachers etc.

Female would be my Mum. Male would probably be Charles Darwin.

I have cleaned up this thread and it is now able to be posted too again. Please remember that bashing anyone leads to arguments and flame wars, no one wins. It is specifically against TOS 10 and will not be tolerated. I remind all posters

TOS 10:

10. Bashing or flaming of an individual or group is not acceptable behavior on this website and will not be tolerated in the slightest for any reason.  This includes but is not limited to:
Advocating the separation or exclusion of one or more group from under the Transgender umbrella term. The same restriction applies to advocating the removal of the T from GLBT.
Suggesting or claiming that one segment or sub-segment of our community is more or less legitimate, deserving, or real than any others.
Suggesting that Trans people are not really men (FTM) or women (MTF).
Posting any messages that engages in personal attacks and/or is actively or passively aggressive no matter the provocation.
