I just wanted to give a quick update on my HRT progress. I've been on sublingual estradiol as well as Spiro for a week now, and Finasteride for about 3.5 months. Over the last few weeks I've started to see new hair poking up from my scalp but it's still sparse in the thin areas and it's going to take a while to get an idea of how much regrowth I will see. Now for the actual hormones; this past week I've started to notice some subtle changes. The biggest thing I'm noticing is my mood. I'm feeling swings back and forth, but overall I feel a bit more calm. Physical contact and intimacy with my wife is a little different, over the last couple days whenever we hug closely or cuddle, I'm finding a tendency to sort of blissfully "melt" into her that I never experienced before. And lastly , my nipples occasionally feel tingly, kind of borderline itchy, and have been sore since yesterday morning. Lefty seems to be feeling it a little more. I also keep seeing Libbey looking back at me when I look on the mirror. I'm positive that there aren't any facial changes happening yet so I think that is just psychological.
Hi Rambler. I have been on spiro for a number of years for CHF and it was thinning my hair but when I started taking estradiol the hair started filling in and is now back to the growing patterns I had years ago. My current picture shows a thick head of hair recalling my hippie days of the early 70's but not quite as long yet.

It's always good to hear the stories about hair rebounding. Based on what I've been reading it seems like most people who still had hair experienced some fill out happening. I'm obsessive, my hair probably causes me more physical dysphoria than anything else right now. I've been doing so much to turn it around. I've been on minoxidil on and off for several years, and in the last 6 months added Biotin, folic acid, amino acids, an apple cider vinegar hair scrub, I just bought a high quality shampoo & conditioner with ketanozal, and I'm on week 4 of dermarolling. The interesting thing I've noticed with the derma rolling so far is that everytime I do it, my scalp bleeds more. The first time it only got red and the other day it looked like raw meat by the time I was done. This tells me blood flow is dramatically increasing to the scalp. Hopefully in the next couple months but I'm also expecting to see at least some minor shed after starting HRT since I experienced it when first starting the Finasteride, but maybe I'll get lucky!

Sublingual = strong and rapid fluctuations in E levels which might be causing the swings. I took E orally and had equally effective results vs. sublingual.

I actually spoke with a nurse from my clinic when they called for a one week check in and split my sublingual dose between morning and evening instead of just once per day, and the mood swings are virtually gone. I feel great!
