Title: Peidmont Health for T
Post by: Pao on April 29, 2017, 07:13:45 PM
Hi,

If this isn't appropriate I am sorry, and feel free to delete or move.

I was just wondering if there is anyone in the Atlanta area that has gone to Peidmont health to get T. They don't require a therapist letter, but do require 1 year RLE. I am thinking of trying to get an appointment. I'd love to find out if there is anyone wo can tell me what they consider 1 year RLE.

I mean I am out to my boss, husband and lots of my friends. I am not out yet to my folks and extended family. I'd like to get on T before I do that.

BTW, I am 35. I don't live with my parents, but I do live in a rental house of my fathers for the time being. I plan on moving very soon. I already have my Pre-qual and I am picking out homes.

Thanks,
Pao

Don't live in Atlantic but RLE means living full time as your actual gender. So they'll need to see prove of name change and will go by the date on that document to know when you started.

Hope this was helpful.

Yes it was helpful, though not what I wanted to hear.

The standard for RLE seems to be pretty mixed. Your best bet is to find someone local, perhaps via a support group or online, and ask them. I know personally, my RLE time tracking didn't start until HRT because that was the first thing I did. I didn't change my name until 3 months after that.

I've actually never heard of a 1 year RLE requirement for hormones. It's very common and required for surgery. But for some people, RLE truly isn't possible without hormones. So it seems strange to me.

Exactly. I am 5'2. No one takes me seriously. And my voice gets me immediately ma'am'd.

I live in Georgia and ended up going to planned parenthood in Charleston, SC to start T via informed consent.  Yes it's a long drive but it's only every three months.

There's a place in Atlanta that requires a therapist letter but said they'll see me without one as long as I provide proof I've been on T for as long as I say I have (9 months).

Updating to add, that I was wrong about this clinic. It was not the o
Be with the yer RLE of one year. That was the Trans Health Initive at Feminist Women's Center. The THI is on hold until they get a new coordinator.

I have an appointment with Piedmont Ave Health and Wellness this afternoon at 2. My stomach is doing flip flops. *Fingers Crossed*

OMG! So far I love this place. It was totally informed consent for me. She talked to me for 20 minutes and was like "OK, lets pull your blood" Boom two weeks I have an appointment to start T.
