Title: Starting Endo Next Week, Have Question
Post by: Reyes on May 02, 2017, 11:45:43 AM
Yes hi, so good news, I'm seeing my endocrinologist for the first time next week, and I was just wondering, how many appointments with her will I probably have to go to before she prescribes the hormones for me??

I would assume one appointment to discuss your goals, expectations, and establish your baseline levels, then pick up your prescription the next week.

My experience was similar.  Got script for everything day one.  Told to fill them but start only the Spiro after blood work.  He didn't want me to start estradiol for a while (a month or two)

The Spiro diminished the dysphoria immediately (3 days).

My experience was the same.  I went in for my first visit, the doctor asked me about my goals, whether I was living full-time, she looked at my blood work from a recent physical and gave me the prescription for Estradiol and asked if I wanted Spiro as well.  She sent both prescriptions over to my pharmacy, had me make a follow-up appointment for 2 months out and I was done in 20 minutes.

Now I will say, I'm in very good health, I'm physically active, I have a good body weight and am still fairly young.  If you have potential complicating factors, your doctor may be more cautious.

I had the same experience as with Devlyn.

I had a couple of appointments with her over the following weeks to track my levels and up my dosages.

Hey Ladies,

Did we all go to the same Endocrinologist?  ;)

My experience was similar. My Endocrinologist just drew some blood for baseline hormone levels and general overall health.

The real gate keeper is the psychologist who writes the HRT approval letter. Once you have this, you are on your way!

Same here.  But the GP I went to has two classes of patients.  Infants and trans*.  It's kinda funny in his waiting room.
