Hi. Quick question. I was talking to a board member of a new charity this morning. I suggested funding breast surgeries for trans ppl. She without missing a beat said can't there are already groups out there doing this. Umm I have never heard of such a group, No friends have and google comes up empty. Is this person blowing smoke up my skirt?? Anybody know any groups in Ontario that do this other than OHIPS failure to thrive exception?
Everyone knows there can only be one charity per cause.
Seems like ridiculous smoke, but I've never looked for such a thing either.
Jim Collins Foundation and Community Kinship Life are two that come to mind. Both have "scholarship" funds for gender affirming surgeries where folks have to apply. There are two of them, so obviously there can be more than one group doing the same thing. These aren't local to Canada, but I don't think Canadians are exempt from applying.
Point of Pride is another, they're in our Links Directory. You can check out the latest recipients (http://pointofpride.org/) on their website.
May I ask what type of charity you approached just out of curiosity?
Hugs, Devlyn
