I'm 99% sure all is ok, I have no signs of infection and I've certainly read about uneven swelling but I'm also feeling a bit vulnerable (back on HRT, emotions are back with full effect and it's my first interim day solo, my gf had to fly home last night).
Sit:
After a walk this morning I had a look (cellphone camera) at things down there and my left labia - which has been feeling a bit more tender than the right was swollen about 50% larger than the right side and colored kinda yellowish.
I had a good cry, talked to my doc's weekend coverage (recommended ibuprofen as an antiinflammatory) and am trying to feel ok about it.
Goddess knows this also coincides with a big increase in discharge from the neovagina, again something that's expected.
Please, any related experiences would be great to hear.
I've heard of this with some other girls who got a little too active too soon after surgery. Ibuprofen, less activity, and keep icing down the site to reduce swelling is what I've herd suggested.
I haven't been through GCS yet, so none of this is first-hand. I have tended to several friends, though.
Thanks Michelle! Mind I don't hardly feel like I've been pushing it on activity. I guess Saturday came to about 5 hours of walking or sitting, today was only 2 and Friday was maybe a little over 2.
Based on my experience, what you're describing is pretty typical. I'm 6 week's out and theres no discoloration but there's still some swelling. Im more worried about areas on my labia that remain numb.

Emmaloo, thanks!
Yes the numbness is also worrying, for now however I'm filing that in the box with numbness experienced after every prior surgery and simply remembering that the women who came before me are happy with the end results and so knowing there will be time for things to settle.
And the swelling is down some so that's also nice. One more dilation to go tonight :-).
I'm hoping It's just like the top of you head feels after gettung your forhead done. It was completely numb for some time before the feeling came back. Now I don't even remember how long that took.

I emailed Dr. Gallagher, my GRS surgeon, this morning about the labia numbness and she responded that it was completely normal and there was a lot of renerving yet to go.
I'm glad to hear that is normal, but once again, I have to ask why I wasnt aware if this in the first place?

Swelling after waking, especially a few hours, and numbness are normal. Your nerves will reconnect and you will know it.

I remember it well. Trying to scratch something that was no longer there. :o
im at 11 weeks post-op and I still have a cloven-hoof appearance to my outer labia, right side is swollen more than the left and larger too.
numbness will last awhile. dont be worried, its normal. I had parts of my mon pubis that were numb and feeling is returning now. parts of my labia are still numb. some days I have feeling, but sitting for work makes it go numb, then it comes back. so relax, its normal. takes time and everyone is different with their healing speeds.
