Title: Curious Glances
Post by: Artesia on May 08, 2017, 05:47:32 AM
I am getting curious looking glances from people lately.  I don't know if I am starting to have a more feminine appearance/shape, or my motions are more on the feminine side.  I still totally look like a guy to me, and there is no way my voice passes.  I still don't see much in the way of physical changes to me, but people are noticing something.

Congratulations.
When you are eating out with waitress/waiter service and you get referred to as ma'am you'll really start to wonder.  The first time it happened while out with my wife, her reaction was the same as mine.... Is he blind?

Maybe you are at the stage where it is difficult to tell at a glance if you are male or female and the signals you are giving off are mixed, in that case  excellent progress. It felt weird the first time I found myself being checked out especially by guys. I was in Sydney and both my wife and I realised that I was being checked out on a regular basis by both men and women but mainly men and it wasn't that I passed it was that I was androgynous and it took a couple of glances to drop me into the appropriate box.

For some of us it takes longer to see that woman in the mirror...I don't see her all the time...although more so recently...you are making great progress and I would see this as a positive!!

I'm glad somebody is at least seeing it, because I sure don't.  Maybe I should take another picture of me with the same camera in the same lighting and compare.

How Old is your Avatar Picture?

This isn't meant to be disrespectful, but how do you know that these glances aren't just in your head?  Perhaps you're just being more perceptive  of people's normal behavior or maybe even being a bit "paranoid" because you're aware of your HRT.

3/18/2017 is when it was taken, so just shy of 2 months.

No disrespect taken.  I have always been paranoid, to an extent.  The first thing I do when I enter a new location is check for exits, hiding places, and assess current population for potential threats.  I am always Hyper aware of my environment, and notice things like the crickets that stop chirping when a person is near, or the sound the wind makes and how it changes when a person is in it's path.  There are even very subtle sounds that a body makes while moving, depending on age/health some people creak and some pop.  Clothing also makes sounds depending on fit, material, and style; leather skirts/Jackets being the noisiest.

I've been largely ignored for decades, with simple quick looks that are more to check position than to look at me.  Now the glances take an extra 2 perceptible heartbeats before moving on.

Maybe I should talk to my therapist about this, but she already knows I threat assess and survey my area, just not the extant that I do it.

It's difficult to recognize our own changes.  I still present as male and I still cannot see it the other way around, but strangers definitely recognize me as female right away.
