Alright MTF ladies, let's talk swim suits. Summer is nearing and I'm planning a couple different trips where I'll have the opportunity to at least go out in a swimsuit and possibly actually go swimming. This is one area that up until now has always been a Present-as-Male situation for me. Well, I'm early on in HRT so I won't have breasts by this summer, likely will still have a fair amount of body hair, definitely won't have long hair and my face may still need make-up in order to look feminine.
The hair and face issues I obviously have to deal with or just suck it up. But what did you do about a swim suit during that awkward early HRT phase? Unfortunately most regular women's suits are cut low to show the cleavage that I simply do not have yet. I'm looking at post-mastectomy suits that have pockets for swim forms and thinking that might be a good option. I did see a couple bikini's but obviously most are one-piece or swim dresses.
I'm at a total loss here as to what direction I should go. Since I still have to tuck, I'm worried that even a one-piece might not be the best option. I'm not a big fan of swim dresses, but thinking that might be the only option. A bikini seems like a really gutsy idea and with my body hair situation at this point I don't think I'm brave enough for that. But I'd really like to hear your experiences. I mean I could just buy a couple different options and see what works best, but that gets expensive so if I can learn anything helpful from your experiences first, that would be great. Please let me know about your first swimsuit, successes or failures with tucking, or any other helpful hints you've got.
Thanks all!!
Like you said try a swimming cozy with the ability to put in breast form or something similar & a pair of funky summer shorts on the bottom, should cover things up a treat
Yea I too will have to go to the lake for the first time ever in a Bikini.. :S
I think body wise I am pretty good to go, boobs are a little small. But that I don't worry about.
My problem will be the lower half :/
Yeah Rachel I hear ya. If I had anything growing upstairs I wouldn't hold back. However, I've got nothing plus I have a little bit of a sunken chest so without boobs, it looks pretty awful. As far as a bikini, I'd love to go that route but I have such dark hair on my chest and torso that even when clean shaven you can still see the folicles (little black dots). Downstairs is a problem no matter what, so I'm working on ways to make sure things stay tucked away.
Thank god I don't have body hair to deal with.
Did you not begin laser atall for your body?
Maybe get em all waxed a day before you go, I'd guess you'd be good for a week ther after?
Or the simple option would be a one piece, but the sacrifice of tan gains :/ nooo
No laser on the body yet (just my face). My plan was to wait and see what HRT did for me first. Of course now I kind of wish I had taken a different approach, but oh well. Waxing is an idea, however the last time I got waxed I was covered in little red bumps for days, so I'm a little leery of that.
Maybe I need to get back to the epilator and stick with it religiously between now and then.
Oh yeah that would hopefully have saved some money alright, apparently it does thin out with HRT.
The little red bumps are super annoying, I get them on my legs if I epilate, but usually lasts half a day kind off... And it's more just red marks than actual bumps. Skin can be so finicky at time >_<
When in doubt, try board shorts and a swim shirt.
This doesn't work as well when indoors though.
So I was in you same shoes in December. This is what I did, worked perfectly.
At Target (larger discount department store) they mix-n-match tankinis and skirted bottoms. The tankini had a little shape to it without being obvious that there was a bunch of air in there. 😉

My goodness I got lucky with my body. I never had any hair on my chest and once I started HRT I only have to shave my arms and legs once a week or so. I started to show breast development after three weeks on HRT and some significant, uh, derrière as well. I wore a bikini in public in Las Vegas last summer after eight weeks on HRT.
I was not fully passable. My hair was too short and my face was too bony but it did not matter and I had a wonderful time.
I am going back to Vegas in June and I am packing the bikinis, but --- I have a Michael Kors one piece I really want to wear. My breasts do not quite fill it out so I am going to experiment with chicken cutlets and duct tape. I also bought some medical tape for tucking. It worked really well when I tried it at home with one of my bikinis.
