Title: New Here!
Post by: LoriQ on May 08, 2017, 04:33:25 PM
Hi Everyone!

My name is Lori. That is my legal name. I am a m-f transgender living full time as a female. I live south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am in need of friends as I have no support. I live in a rural area. I have a set of twins, a boy and a girl. They are 29 years old. My son is married with one child. My son lives out of state and he does not accept me at all. My daughter sort of accepts me or at least she tolerates me.

Since Trump got elected, I have been scared. I have been living as a female since the mid 1990's and I have never been as scared as I am now. I am scared that the new administration is changing society's way of treating the transgender community. Like it's ok to mistreat the transgender community. So far I haven't had any problems, but I am very nervous. It shouldn't be that way. We aren't hurting anyone. There seems to be so much hate and I feel this country is more divided than it's ever been.

I welcome good conversation and hope to make some new friends.

~Lori

Welcome to Susan's Place. There is very little to worry about. I started down the transition road in 1973-4 and there are so many more resources available today that would have been dreams back then. It's possible the transition process could become a bit more difficult but I don't see it becoming anywhere near what I faced. It's best not to worry about what might happen and just concentrate on dealing with the problems of the present.

Hi Lori,

I echo Dena that you shouldn't worry about it. Not much you could do about it anyway, other than move.

I live in conservative Colorado Springs, and while I'm so new at this that I can't really comment on trans acceptance here, our city just elected its first progressive-leaning city council in over 20 years. So if anything, the November election seems to have awakened the sleeping majority, and things are looking more positive here.

You have many friends here.

Love Randy
