Title: cramp problems
Post by: ghoulified g on May 11, 2017, 08:10:42 AM
TW: shark week stuff... I don't usually use slang in these kinds of things as well, it never really bothered me

So I'm pre-T, and I usually get my period around the middle of the month, 14th-16th or something. But lately it's been coming earlier and earlier, it started today: the 11th. But that's not all; my cramps have gotten much worse. Usually I could just pop a pill for period cramps and go for a walk and that would be me for the week but this time I took two of those tablets, they did nothing, and I almost threw up in the ditch when I was walking the dogs today. As I write this I'm writhing in my bed, I'm trying to sleep but I can't cause it's too sore. Any ideas on what I could do about it? I'm too young for T where I live so that's out of the question, unfortunately

Time for a visit to a doctor. There are prescription medications such as birth control pills that will suppress/control your period however you will have to make a decision about adding feminine hormones to your body. Make sure your doctor is aware of your transgender feeling as it may help in the selection of a medication.

ghoulified g, I get my bad cramps the day before I start each month, does me in for the day.  I take OTC meds don't want to take any type of female hormones for I fear the side effects.  Mine comes about the same time each month or a day earlier, it use to start in the 20's of the month, this month I expect this weekend.  You have to decide what will work for you, as you said you are to young for T.

I cant imagine how much that would suck o.O I honestly never got cramps or any period troubles (besides the actually bleeding and minor lower back pain). I mean even without that I already felt like it sucked being [redacting gory details] and feeling that pang of dysphoria having to have feminine hygiene products and general discomfort from the situation. One time my cis female roommate from college asked if I even got them because I never complained about cramps or talked about that personal junk.

That said, before T I considered birth control because I hear that stuff regulates them much better, so if not Depo like mentioned above maybe the pill for that. A doctor will definitely find you a better fit, though.

I realize you have probably tried all these things before, but just in case:

Cramping is usually caused by either larger clots or muscle spasms. Either of those may be helped by the application of heat. I'd try a heating pad. Also, aspirin thins the blood and my help with clots, but might mage you bleed more/heavier.

I used to have major clots. One thing that helped was to not be sedentary. I used to sleep a lot when the time came, but that can cause clots to get bigger and increase pain. Now I try to keep myself moving all as much as possible.

You should definitely see a doctor if you are able to. There are many things they can do, but also they can make sure it isn't something troublesome. I have a defect in my left tube, and that causes significant pain when I am ovulating or starting my cycle.
