Title: Santa Baby
Post by: melissa90299 on November 22, 2007, 12:59:43 PM
I will be performing this version of Santa Baby at the Octavia Lounge, Octavia and Market, San Francisco around 7pm this Monday.

I am just finishing up writing the new lyrics so far:

Santa baby, slip a sable under the tree, for me
Been an awful good girl
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa honey, I wanna yacht and really that's not a lot,
I've been an angel all year.
Santa honey, just hurry down my chimney

Santa baby, I don't think it's too much of a gift, a facelift
And just a little bit of botox, too
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Think of all the fun I've ducked
Think of all the fellas that I haven't ....uh...kissed
Next year I could be o' so good
If you'd check off my Christmas list...

Santa Baby, a girl could never have enough...handcuffs
And a brand new leather riding crop too
So hurry down MY chimney tonight

Santa Baby, if you think I am showing too much restraint, I ain't
But I never thought I could be tied down
So hurry down my chimney tonight

i'LL leave you cookies and your favorite libations
Just leave me lots of toys purchasd at Good Vibrations
Next year Ill could be oh so bad
If you just bring me all the things that I never had

Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing,
a ring, one for each nipple and my kitty too
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight.

Thanks for bringing my brand new little kitty
And that weekend getaway to New York City
I really do believe in you
Let's see if you believe in me too

Santa Baby I really do love my new Double D's
A girl like me was always meant to please
Santa sweetie, hurry down the chimney tonight

Hurry down the chimney tonight,

If it's videotaped, I'd love to see that. Sounds like a hoot, Nicole. And I bet you'll be awesome. Love the new lyrics.

I wish I was in SF, I would stop by!  So is this solo or do you have an accompanist?

I have the legendary Houston Allred accompanying me.

I will be appearing at the world famous Martuni's tonight, but I promised I would debut Santa Baby Monday at the Octavia.

Santa baby, a mercedes convertible too,
light blue, I'll wait up for you dear.
Santa honey, just hurry down my chimney tonight

And just a little bit of botox, too
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

My appearance at Martuni's went very well. The hardest part is staying within my new feminine style which I did very well on several songs especially All of Me Shades of Billie Holiday. :)

This takes an awful lot of work, the singing voice is coming along very well but I need to work harder on the speaking voice.

I put an audio sample of Santa Baby, the quality is poor, it sounds like an old record that has a lot of scratches so think vintage. LOL

It sounds great, Melissa, but I think I would've transposed it down a third. You have a lovely sultry alto voice, but that, in the higher notes, is in soprano range. I'd still like to see the video. Bet the performance was something else.

Thank you Dennis! Do you want to be my manager? Santa 1 was in E, I dropped down to C and re-did, it sounds a lot better although in the higher range, it does sound more comical.

Please listen to the re-do as well as Look of Love, which I think should also come down. I keep trying to raise the pitch to sound more female but I think you are right, I should stick in the alto range.

I also speak some words in Santa Baby and I think it sounds pretty good. I appreciate feedback. I have ZERO objectivity when it comes to my femininity of my voice.

EDIT: just re-listened to Look of Love. I think it sounds really female but I think I could drop it down to G minor (Krall's key I think) from Bb minor,  and still sound just as female. I will re-do that too, maybe tomorrow.

I just added a quickie version of Look of Love in G minor

Hi Melissa
"Wow" you really did great hon. I only wish I could sing at all. I have an in between voice that always did sound more feminine then masculine. But to sing my voice breaks up and  sound all raspy . You did very well, kind of on the sexy side.

Hi, Melissa,

You, my Dear, are a genuine hoot!  "Santa Baby" will never sound the same for me again!  Ya done great!

"The Look of Love" was a fine effort, too.  I know little of music and less of singing but when you mentioned alto, Karen Carpenter was an alto, as I recall.  I love her singing.

What you've done is breathy enough to have that "smoky" quality around it, yet have a "center of sound" that carries the lyrics.

Enjoy the holidays!

Thanks Cindy and Wing!

I was always a tenor (just below alto) but singing blues, I developed a very bluesy male sound so I had to almost completely  change my style. (If I can get some stuff off of my old computer I will post my old guy stuff just for fun and comparison)

My regular piano player, the legendary Houston Allred was ill last night and had to cancel, so the debut of Santa Baby will have to wait. I LOVE Karen Carpenter! When I wanted to learn "I'll Never Fall in Love" I went to Itunes and listened to samples of every version and hers was the best and, even better, her range is the same as mine. I never realized it before.

I think I'll ask Santa Baby for a dose of confidence for Melissa!  What a hoot, I love the lyrics!  Best of luck with the debut.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I put up a quickie version of a song that I am still writing Paradise as well as one of my old songs  in my "male voice" Biscayne Bay Baby Blues I produced this song on my computer then recorded electric guitar and vocals over it. I am proud of the production but the vocal sucks, I think I was in that in between stage, maybe I still am actually.

Hi Melissa
I just think that your voice kind of got a little raspy is all, "hee, hee" Like mine does. I do better with the dancing. I can still dance up a storm through an entire song. Rock songs!!! Not bad for an old bird like me.

Your voice is fine hon I just thing you need just a little more practice at it. Other then that you do have a beautiful voice. New voice under construction  ;D

I'm very jealous of your tenor range. Most of the best songs are in tenor range. It's a bugger to find a good song in baritone. If you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to take them. Right now, what I do is pick good songs in alto and drop them an octave.
