Title: Drainage after dilation
Post by: Gamergirl on May 15, 2017, 05:34:18 PM
Hey everyone

I feel silly for asking because its such a simple problem, which is going to happen for a few months im told.  Are there any tips or comments about controlling the drip drip hours after dilation ?  Its irritating to sleep wet, and with pads that fill up. Maybe getting a rash as well.

I'm post-op 12 days.

Thanks

No great solutions other than purchase pads in the biggest container you can find and change them 3-4 times a day. I also use paper towels to clean up the mess after dilation so the pads only have to soak up what the paper towels missed.

Could try using less lubricant.. experimenting to see what you can get by with.  You don't need to goop yourself up like a loob job. ^_^

Yes, dilation can be messy. In early recovery, I changed pads, at least every toilet stop or approx 2-3 hours, which ever came first. I did use maxi-pads initially when I was super messy. As you progress you will find a suitable lubricant level and it will feel comfortable inserting. But, I suggest being this early in recovery, change pads reguarly to help keep rash away, also during daytime when resting, I did lay on protective sheet with no panties, which
I thought helped a little, but  I found it horrible to feel leaking out and then dripping down around my bottom. But as healing progresses you will not be tender and sore and you can experiment a little on what feels right and then you can really test on how much lubricant you need as you don't have the fear or tearing or damaging your vagina as you will start feel it is part of your body

Nowdays, when I dilate, I wipe with non-scented baby wipes, while still laying down and hold there for a few minutes and then slide up my legs bending my knees and then wipe again with a fresh wipe and then use ultrathin pantyliner until next toilet stop, no problem. BUT wait, the big mess I have is after sex, as we are in a long term live in relationship after he unloads inside me, along with the moisture  I produce and lube and I find the vaginal entrance stays freely open for sometime, that is when I really leak. But wearing a pad because I have had sex, seems to make me feel warm and glowing, if I feel it or have pick my panties out of my bottom due to pad scrunching, especially if having sex at bedtime and I sleep with a pad

So sorry after my little rave on about my life I don't really have an answer

.

Leakage after sex in just part of being a woman, Shelly Maree.  I just never like the feel and seeing that pad between my legs.

Gamergirl,

Unless I leave the house, I find folding up a Bounty paper towel or half of one and using it as a pad is effective, convenient and cheap. Plus, it's thin, comfortable and you can flush it. BOOM!  :D

P.S. I do not work for Bounty.

Brassard said to sleep naked from the waist down, "to air out the surgical area." I bought large "puppy pads" to sleep on; they're pads that are designed to house-train puppies, and they are absorbent material on a plastic backing - basically, like a sanitary pad that was big enough to lay across a quarter of the bed. It worked beautifully. There are versions made for humans (search for "Chux"), but these were far cheaper.

Have you been given any instructions to douche with anything?

Thanks Jenna Marie,

As the week went on I eventually figured out to lay naked.  Im not sure what would have happened if not..   was starting to get a terrible rash from being in wet nighttime pads.  Sounds gross, but at least stuff is healing below, finally.

No instructions to douche just yet.  I will later on though, when I can have sex

Ouch! I had enough chafing just from having to get dressed to go out during the day; I can only imagine. I guess that's probably why Brassard suggests nude sleeping.

Large dog pee pads at Costco and feminine panty liners are/was a way of life for me. Sex after 12 weeks I think is permitted. For rashes I use Neosporin.

I now need to dilate 1/day. If I do it in the morning, then shower and douche I think I will be able to lose the pad. I keep some pads in my purse so if I need it later I can add it. I will see how it goes.
