I took my first tentative steps outside my home today. Fifty years in the making. I went to see my transgender voice coach / mentor this morning en femme. Thanks Kaiser Permanente for allowing someone like me to address my lifelong journey. The strange thing is that I have built up such a positive rapport with Emily that I was not the least bit nervous. In fact there was an incredible calmness and satisfaction to finally get this monkey off my back. In celebration I will be attending tomorrows meeting at Ingersoll Gender Center wearing my new clothes.
What a difference a year and 3 months make. I looked up the first post you made on the site and here your are on hormones and seeking speech therapy. Leaves the question of what will the next year look like.
Way to go Dawn! :)
Dawn,
Way to go, that is awesome! Proud of you!

WOW Dawn!,
Way To Go !! For some reason Dawn I had you figured for being an old hand at public appearances already. Congratulations of achieving this milestone for yourself. You may have been comfortable with your voice person but I'll wager it was scary just to go out the door en femme and go to the meeting. you may recall I just went to a therapist meeting en femme myself so I know what getting out is like. It's still fresh in my memory. LOL
Good job Dawn, What's next? a makeover?
Hugs,
Laurie

In the old days I would have been a super model . :-) Today I am just happy to be alive to consider a future. Keep in mind in the old days I was 140 lbs. Lately I have been up to 298 and am presently at 230. Thanks for your encouragement Dana, you and your positivity have been real catalyst in my growth. Thank you all for your support. I feel you all are like family. XXOO to all.
This is so great. I'm just getting further and further behind lol. Congratulations Dawn. Inspiring!

Hey Randy, no-one is ahead or behind. We're all on our treadmills at the big gym, each of us trying to keep up with our own pace. Just keep walkin'.

Yes!! I'm so happy for you. Your presence on this forum is so strong and encouraging, it's wonderful to know that you are taking these steps for yourself as well. I love that you posted this, so we can join in celebration with you :)

Thanks Randi. Only 64 years in the making unless my birthdate was nine months earlier.
