Title: Being transgender is not an option but the way I am
Post by: Ella2Marques on May 21, 2017, 07:51:36 AM
I still get a lot of comments, "Why did you choose to be a women? It is so much more difficult for you.". Can't these people understand that this is not a question of option? This is the way I am!

Ella,
You are right, we didn't chose to be trans. From their perspective, maybe that is how they see it or try to understand it. At least it is a friendly curiosity, and that is a great time to educate. I think I would prefer that kind of question to  the silence I get a lot. They are afraid to ask the wrong question so they as no questions. It becomes the thing not to be spoken about, and I invited people to ask questions when I came out.

As someone from the other side, I've gotten the same question and others like 'why couldn't you stay female'

What I don't get is when people say 'you're so brave'. I don't get it tbh like I didn't choose to be trans???
