Title: doctors
Post by: whovian239342 on May 24, 2017, 09:00:59 AM
I was just wondering.

I get my medication prescribed from Planned Parenthood. Should I go to another doctor such as a gender therapist as well? I am curious is all. Will the Planned Parenthood nurse suffice?

It had not occurred me to think about this until just now.

If you feel you need to see a therapist you should see one, but you won't get HRT from them. Its not what they do.

If you can see an endocrinologist who does trans medicine that can be better, as they are more skilled than a GP or nurse. They might detect health problems that the others wouldn't, so less risk.

Personally I like to check what I'm being prescribed myself, and make sure its all what its supposed to be. I don't really trust doctors much.

If full transition is in your future, you will need a therapists letter for surgery.

That's the only one you need a psych's letter for.

I think I found a therapist.  It's still gonna take a very long time before I need the surgery. For now it's just hormones.

I believe planned parenthood uses informed consent for transgender people.
