Title: What to buy?
Post by: Emilia on May 25, 2017, 05:31:45 AM
Hello there,

after i finally came out to my family this January, i was also confronted with me crossdressing mroe and more, only at home though. Of course i want to get it out sometime, but i don't feel that well about leaving the house with basically just a skirt, tights and a shirt, which you can almost see the push-up bra below.
So i asked my mom if she could give me some money to buy some female cloths, she agreed, which is really awesome. I also plan taking that shopping trip outside of the internet to get confortable with me being a girl in public.

Now the big question i'm asking myself, is what to buy at all. I got some tips froma classmate of mine that knows i'm trans, but that's all, i'd love to get some more opinions about that, espacially from other people like me.

About me:
I have bright skin, almost white (for colormatching, if that's important); natural reddish hair (see pics below); chubby; 185cm tall (~6"); 110kg (~242 lbs)
The chubby shows the most on my legs and my tummy.

Thanks in advance c:

What to buy first depends on your priorities. Does dressing in a female style make you feel better? Then go that route.

For myself, my dysphoria was more internal and counselling and HRT was more important. For what it is worth, I almost never cross dressed before counselling. OK, maybe at times, I had a collection of female clothes, which I purged about 5 or 6 times in all the years before counselling. For me, my dysphoria was never satisfied with clothes or make up. Although, I felt better dressed, somehow.

As a red head, you may be in luck. It appears one of the possible colors this year is rust which is  a read head color. Stay away from softer pastels and pure pigment such as bright red. Start with modest blouses, skirts and pants, something like casual office wear. These items will get you by most of the time and then you can add really casual and formal when you determine what would be appropriate for the life you are living.

I bought stretch women's jeans, which I really like and they are very comfortable. You can find them with real pockets if that is important to you (my daughter buys that kind and keeps her cell phone in a front pocket).

Hi Emilia,

Since your mother is giving money, why wouldn't you take her shopping with you?

I'd say, definitely buy some girly underwear, and some basic cosmetics (don't have to be bought in expensive mall booths, I had great advice from teenage girls working at my local Walgreens). From there, I'd go for everyday wear, androgynous style, clothes - colorful shirts, fem jeans, sneakers or no-heel sandals.

I'd suggest not to buy any breastfotms, or wigs. Wigs look kind of fake, and are too hot in summer anyway. And with breastfotms - they also don't look natural, and create a sense that you're trying to fool everyone. Just go for comfortable look, and wait till you're ready for HRT.
Well, unless you know you don't want that, then invest into some good quality forms (but don't go for too big, they are heavy, little B is still enough).

Above all, start working on your diet and exercise and learn to be positive about it :) Give your parents a reason to see how your transition makes you a happier and healthier person
