I came across this gender test. I thought it was interesting because the questions are completely random and it's based on statistics:
---------------
How do we know? Well, deep down, your gender affects everything about you, from your favorite number to your views on Canada.
...
For every question, we keep a running total of how men answer vs. how women answer. This allows us to compare your responses against other people's, resulting in a highly accurate guess at your gender.
---------------
My result:
---------------
Statistically speaking, you are a man—whether you know it or not.
---------------
Correct! And I know it. ;)
I'm curious to see how everyone else does on this test. :)
All the best,
Joseph
Very interesting. I was sceptical but the test did show what I already knew. I am a woman. Every gender test I take comes out the same. I took one test that said I was less masculine than the average woman. Works for me.
Cassie
It all adds up... we feel 20% certain that you are...
A Woman!

LOL...not sure what the ZERO percent sure is all about, though... :D Feels kinda' special to only have 7% like me...
Valerie
Well you did say you were bi didn't you? By the way is that a cat on your shoulder or have you been standing to close to a nuclear reactor core? ;D
Cassie
Cassandra! I am utterly in amazement! :o Yeah, I'm bi- but hasn't the running theme here on Susan's been that sexual orientation has nothing to do with gender identity ?
I laughed out loud about your nuclear reactor crack... 2AM lots of things tickle my funnybone in a more hearty manner... That's my boy Oliver, we took that pic Wednesday morning.... He was being all cute and purring and walkin' all over me, and head-butting me... *sigh* I think I love cats more than some people....

As the song goes "save the horse ride a cowboy", I am very amused by those gender tests as they can be a little far fetched. Not to mention that you have to sign up for that particular site in order to get the results. As another song says "Man I feel like a woman", theres my test and I passed.
Sara.
Oh I just did it for giggles and grins, I don't put credence in those things, either. There's no way anyone can convince me that because I prefer a circle to a square that I am more or less female.
8% certain you're a man.
Yeah, I like taking these things for amusement's sake. Apparently preferring a blue bedroom over a white one is a female trait, though.
Dennis
I chose a white bedroom, if it's any consolation, Dennis ;)
You macho chick you!
Dennis
Bah! I'm such a wimp, though, lol... if I could truly exude male prowess I might be worthy of such a title... besides, 'moist' is more disgusting than 'used'... ::) Valerie
Oh well, I guess I won't take the test, I started to take the test and it wanted me to make an account with them. Sorry, not interested in having an account with them.
And anyway most of those tests are silly. My choice of colors, etc have nothing to do with me belief that I have a birth defect and need it corrected.

How about popping over to Introductions and telling us a little bit about yourself and what brings you to Susan's? By the way my middle name is Anna.

I agree that of course these gender tests don't *really* determine anything, I just thought this one was more interesting than others I've run into in the past. It's also pretty cool that so far it's been right for everyone who's posted (although, Valerie, I dunno what to think about "0% sure", either :D).
I actually created a different profile with "female" checked and took the test again, choosing the same answers as last time. It still told me the verdict was male. I guess they're telling the truth about not peeking at your profile. I do wonder about the last question though ("were you born in an even or odd year")? You can't base gender preference on a question like that. ??? *shrug* oh well.
Joseph
The result:
12% certain that I am a woman :o
well, I am wearing a skirt and makeup ;D
64% are more masculine than me (this is probably true)
7% are like me (so high? I thought I was the only one)
29% are more feminine (well, of course)
When I do these gender tests I generally wind up in the "androgynous" category. I suppose that the percentages on this test are consistent with that.
Louise
Hey yeah I went back and created a guy account, did the test with the exact same answers and got the exact same result, "We feel 0% that you are a woman!" and same stats and everything...
And that IS interesting how they seem to think birth year affects anything! All i can think of is maybe there are statistics involved, maybe more boy babies are born on even years or vice versa...who knows what they're thinkin....
Anyway it's been fun but I've worn this test out...
XO,
Valerie
lolol the thing was 12% sure I'm a man! rotflmao
its about as sure as i am hehe

So for those of you who took the test, how did you answer the gender question. Did you answer with your birth sex or your transsex?

I took the test for fun and answered the gender question in my transsex. (80% sure I am a woman.)
Chaunte
89% more male than you — 3% like you — 7% more female than you
They're 28% sure about this! :icon_flamed: LOL!!!
Geez! Should I tell my therapist? I chose not to tell them anything about my true gender - heck, sometimes I'm as confused as the test was!
I took the tickle test and found that I am 93% FEMININE. By the way my bedroom was painted powder blue, a definite feminine trait. Its now off white but that may change.
Owen :-*
"*sigh* I think I love cats more than some people.... "
Valerie, I think the same thing!
12% female btw
An intersting use of this test: I suggested to a number of people at my work to take it, "Just for fun," I suggested. More GG's took it than GM's and the test predicted the gender correctly each time! One GG got a result that was 0% sure she was female ?!? ??? ?!? so I'm not sure what that means however (she is a bit, self admittedly, masculine). I admitted my results (took the test 3 times, each time FEMALE) to a small number of selected female friends as a way of coming out, in a small way, to them (I have very few male friends there). So far, no turned backs!
Whoo Hoo!e
helen
huh, that IS an interesting use of the test. quite useful =D thanks for sharing, and congrats on coming out successfully to those people!!
;)
Joseph
Well, I took this sparks test.
It said that 79% who took the test were more male than me. 5% were like me. And 16% were more feminine than me. Therefore that I must be a woman. As a 59 year old MTF, this only confirms the way I have felt since I was thirteen. I think more like a woman, therefore I am one.
Yes I am purrfectly aware that this may not necessarily follow masculine logic. But it follows my feminine logic. So there! :icon_headfones: :icon_headfones:
I was honest. I said I was female. My physical body is not who I am.
All of those tests are retarded :P
I always score as a female and more female then 70% of the women out there.
So much for 100% accuracy: like any other test, it eventually got one wrong. My result was 4% male. :P ::) :D
And I too gave it my preferred gender rather than birth sex.
even though i ve stopped so many times hrt, confused about my gender, the test shows that i m 85 % woman inside. Txs fro remind me what i am.
Yup, says I'm a female.
Common sense to me. ;D
I am a Woman
89% more male than you — 3% like you — 7% more female than you
Naturally, knew it all the time, That was kind of fun...
Katie
Very interesting test.
And the results are: I AM A WOMAN!!!
Maybe I'll show this to my new pyschiatrist! ;D I had once shown my results of the COGNITIVE test to my first therapist and he gave me some very disapproving comments about it.
BTW I was at 7% woman
Gina :)

I just took the test again, and even though I changed three of my answers I moved up one percent (I'm now at 8%) and my results were that I'm still a WOMAN!!! :)
Gina :)
Well, I took it for the second time just now. First time the test was like 4% certain I was a woman.
This time I was trying really hard to choose by feeling, not by 'knowing' what the answer should be for a particular gender--

Somewhere I read that those people who have higher IQs have fewer gender differences -- probably because IQ is raised by bringing functions 'common' to the other gender 'on line', so for example both male compartmentalized and female diffuse processing are simultaneously available.
And, travelling down that tangent a bit further, another article mentions that women entering menopause notice that their mental acuity diminishes. But researchers have discovered that it's perception and problem-solving in the
female mode that diminishes, and often these women can discover and learn to use their long-dormant
male-mode processing to take up the slack.
For me, it's been fun and exciting to note that as I progress on HRT, those female traits of empathy and intuition -- traits that before were faint and fuzzy in me (but still noticeably there,) -- are becoming clearer and more prominent. Already I find I'm quicker and more sure at reading someone's emotional state, or the emotional subtext in a conversation.
--oops, pardon the long tangent :D

I know what you mean by the different types of mental processing. Quite a while before I even realized I was TS, I realized I had the ability to make decisions using empathy and intuition and it became a matter of trusting myself that I was right in order to override my formerly default method of thinking by logic. So I had already activated myself into thinking in a more female way without realizing what I was doing at the time. I hadn't even thought about this until you made mention of it.
Melissa
oh man here we go - this is largely about social conditioning, which is why such a 'test' is so so revealing; basically girls can't be smart. Can't spacially reason. Can't do math. (NB: Wendy Carlos had to be Walter on album covers for like seven years, after surgery and name change, behind this prejudice) Can have empathy and 'feminine intuition' in spades, but leave the details to us menfolk sweetheart.
I took this test just to see how bad it was: "70% are more female than you, 12% sure you are a man".

that was a short tangent Karen. Very insightful; can you elucidate (in another tangent, if you're still watching this topic) 'male mode' vs 'female mode' problem-solving/processing, and how that was specifically compartmentalized?

Men tend to compartmentalize emotions whereas females don't This allows men to make decisions based on pure logic without any emotional involvement, whereas women tend to make decisions based on what the
feel is right.

Yeah I had that same problem too. It would'nt let me passed logging in. Oh well I already know I am a man. ;D

Wow,, good to have that clarified! lol
Glad I liked the white bedroom...hmm.
Peace,

I just took thet test for a third time, and I must be getting better. I'm now at 12%. I won't let it go to my head though. LOL
Gina :)
I entered my birth sex, tried to answer honestly, and not guess what might be the answer I wanted. Result: 84% more male, 4% like me, 11% more female. I wonder who does win--the monkey on the pole or the one flying through the air? I guessed the one on the pole, don't ask me why.
Robin
Neat! This is a very interesting test! Statistics instead of subjective questions sounds like a pretty good idea to me.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that the results were agreeable ;)
28% woman, 7% more female, 89% more male.

A Woman!
"they" feel 47% that I am a woman!!!
Wow...that's pretty good...but I was hoping to get above 50% at least :(
Well...I think that site knows that I am pre-op. ;)
Probably in January after my SRS, I'll score close to 100% :-*
Ha..ha..ha..I don't take these tests seriously, but they are fun!!!

8 percent sure I am a woman.
Well, maybe tomorrow will be different. Today that's about right.
For what it's worth, I chose the blue bedroom and the flying monkey. I mean, come on, the monkey is FLYING. Of course he will win, the other one is just standing there looking at the flying monkey.
Unless the monkey that's just standing there knows akido.

I don't like some of these gender tests. If you happen to be intelligent, many times it will start leaning you toward the male indicator. I've been able to get results to go more towards female by "dumbing it down". To me, this is offensive because it is saying that men are smarter than women and that's how they determine what you are. This particular test is ok, because there are no right or wrong answers and it just compares the answers chosen to those of other respondents or the test.

Interesting ... I took teh test and came up female... no suprise there so just to test it I had a guy friend of mine take it under my log in and it listed him as a woman as well... I have known this guy for awhile He's not the most masculine guy I know but he is so not trans.... wonder if he is that odd or if it checks something on your account......
I did find it amusing that a lot of men don't realize clams are alive.....
40% ..woman surprised? no

I just had to do it when I found this thread. It certainly didn't surprise me!
there was one confusing question about gender, I wasn't so sure if it meant physical or mental. So I chose mental and chose accordingly.
Said I am a woman ;D
58% more male than you — 7% like you — 35% more female than you. I guess being closer to the middle tomboyish spectrum has been validated.

Yeah the test is jokes lol
test is a bit of a joke but still kinda interesting in how it works out the metrics.
I'm a MAN! haha >:-) love that test!
I did it too. It told me that 84% were more male than me and therefore I was female. Dodgy but fun.

Lol that's funny.
I think it figures out if your male or female and then situates you on a line based on the gender they guess. So I guess you can still be a woman and 99% more manly then everyone else.
I wouldnt take it too seriously. It works on statistics based on input.
"It all adds up... we feel 30% certain that you are...A Man!"
Well, I guess they got it right, but I used logic more than emotion, even though I'm an emotional person. Hm...
On the question where they asked if the test was impressive, yet idiotic, I picked "Idiotic", for obvious reasons. This test seems to be largely based on general statistics...perhaps even stereotypes about how a woman's brain works, and a man's brain works. I don't put much faith into such things...and considering that the percentage they give is fairly small in retrospect. Yeah.
The test reminds me of the Strong Test (Strong was a person, not an adjective) where they profiled thousands of people in various jobs and professions and then you get given the same test.
They then compare your profile to those in the database and say 'Your profile is like these people here and they like working in (some job) so you would probably like it as well'. The idea is that certain jobs require a certain mind-set and you will be happiest in the job that matches your mindset with others like you.

27% more male than you — 1% like you — 73% more female than you"

98% more male than you — 1% like you — 1% more female than you
They were 4% sure I am a man, way on the being sure :)
