Title: First consult on Wednesday for FFS and hopefully BA
Post by: Denise on May 28, 2017, 08:13:18 PM
Wednesday I have an "Intake appointment" with who I probably will have FFS with and hopefully BA at the same time.  Any guess what I can expect at this appointment?

TBD - I'm not sure what it will take to turn my 55 years of Testosterone ravaged face into something feminine.  Nose, Eyes, Forehead, Chin, Adam's apple for sure and maybe lips and cheeks.
No hair
No ears

Hi Denise!!!

Congrats on yet another move forward along your journey!!!... Each surgeon may handle the initial consult a bit differently but the most important thing is to get your questions answered!

I always went in well armed with lists of all the questions that had come to me in the weeks before the consult... I actually kept a pad and pen by the bed because I would always think of things when I was going to bed!!!..

Make sure to ask about what to expect as far as results and what they feel they can realistically achieve for you... Make sure to ask about possible complications ( they happen) and the steps they use to mitigate  them... What are the rates of complications for each procedure so you can weigh the benefit for the risks involved..Ask about the healing process and any fears connected with it or the procedures themselves... Most of all, get a feel for if this is the person you want carving on you!!! Ask to see pics of results of their other patients getting similar work done and to speak to one about their experience by phone if one is willing

I had read Dr Ousterhout's FFS book cover to cover before the consult and it helped a lot with asking concise and informed questions... Highly recommended reading!!!

Please feel free to contact me if I can be of help with your process!... I have close to 40 hours on surgical tables and I have learned a lot ....even though I was asleep!!! :)

Onward we go brave girl!!!

Ashley :)
