Hello I thought I would ask this question to all. What is one thing you have to go through with now being on HRT that you really could live without. Or if you could change one aspect of it what would it be? For me it would probably be the time it takes to see significant results but I understand like the saying goes "good things come to those who wait", other than that it has been good for me.
I suppose one thing that would be nice is getting what we want, without having to take medication to get it. ;)

I like that one.
The need for Spiro! I'm off of it now, but I hated that stuff! Made me pee every 5 minutes and eat a pound of salt a day.

Water retention! I look like a marshmallow monster. ::)
Spiro helps with water retention as can progesterone because it exerts similar, anti-mineralocorticoid effects. Ask your doctor about them.

Thanks for the suggestions! However, I'm a trans man and T just causes water retention for the first couple of months. It'll die down eventually, but thank you :)
I'd like to be able to do without spiro. I hate getting up twice in the night to pee, and feeling thirsty all the time in spite of chugging gallons of water. I also find that that big pill (sorry, forum rules won't let me say the dose, but it's a honkin' big pill) hard to choke down.
anybody else experience bouts with overwhelming weakness associated with HRT, like as if you were recovering from exhaustion?
I had pretty much no energy for 5 weeks after starting Spiro and again when they changed my dosage. Felt like exhaustion.
Maybe starting everything the same day in full transition dose has contributed a bit.
So the first 3 month have been pretty rough. Ever since it has been fine and certainly a lot better than having no energy from depression...

Yes. At one time I did. Eventually though the body adapts. I feel full of energy now.

Yeah. Me too. It seemed like it was when I was in a no mans land. My hormone levels were neither in the normal male or female range. After I got the E up and the T down I felt pretty normal.

I always here about salt cravings and having to pee a lot on Spiro but I'm 3 weeks in and haven't experienced either yet
Well.....I'm an old broad and I've been on the stuff for over a year now. I'd like to see it live of to the dream of doing what I fantasized it would do. It has been a bit of a let down regarding that matter. Another year and another assessment I suppose. :-\
(Disclaimer - my first HRT/endo appointment is next month).
What would I change about HRT? Sure would be nice if MTF HRT deleted all that facial hair without resorting to electricity. And while we are at it, shorten vocal cords just a bit. But even without those capabilities I'm looking forward to what it can do.

What is it not doing, that you "fantasized" about it doing?

TWO THUMBS UP!
I wish there was something you could take that would totally reverse the male puberty you went through but oh well that would be magic, or some futuristic nano-technology. Things like facial structure, body size, etc, etc...

breast growth, hip growth, waist reduction, loss of muscular definition, a bit of feminizing to the face. Maybe, just maybe grown a tiny bit of hair back on my head. Almost every physical secondary sex marker I can think of................just the little stuff. ;D Oh........and before you comment that my levels are wrong, my T is usually at 25-30 and my E is almost always around 250-300. Been checked 4 times. So we can drop that conversation. In reference to physical results, the YMMV thing is REAL.

Same here, except that I've only been on for about seven months.
All the best,

I have felt like that for 25 years but it's actually a function of heart disease. HRT has actually made me more energetic because I spend less time depressed. Instead of being glued to a chair thinking of myself as inadequate I have goals to meet now. So far, all has been positive.

I'm sorry to hear that Jentay. I won't argue with your regimen. You did mention that you are "older" so I assume that has some effect on the efficacy of your HRT.
They do say "the younger one is, the better the outcome on HRT"
I have had some positive feminizing effects, but I'll admit, I was 41 when I started on pharma HRT (about 11 months now).
I do get jealous when I look at the 20 somethings on HRT, as it doesn't seem to take long before they achieve the proverbial "passable" state.
I'd say hang in there, it may just require more time to achieve some of what you're looking for. And modern medicine is always making advances, so there could be hope for us all.
Thanks for the commiseration, Lexi. It's all good. It's done wonders or my mental state and that was the most important thing. It has made me sane again. How I look is important, but not dependent on my transition. It is what it is as they say. Electrolysis and FFS will have to suffice for what hormones couldn't do. Substantially more expensive, but both have been very effective, nonetheless. As you pointed out, for the older transition-er, there needs to be more than physical changes for you to decide they have value. Just a cautionary tale for those amongst us over 50.

I'd say the biggest thing I wish hrt did was stop facial hair growth, like it stops/slows hair on the rest of the body. Those 200+ hours of my time and $10,000 I could totally use to put towards surgery.
