Title: Night sweats/hot flashes?
Post by: Marcieelizabeth on June 06, 2017, 03:31:06 PM
I have been using bioi-identical hormones applied as creams for about three weeks and I find that now about a half hour after they are applied I begin to sweat.  Then last night middle of the night I had to through off the blanket, and woke up as if I had a fever - I did not -  and as my wife who is just past menopause used to say I had my own personal heatwave!  Anyone else had that happen?

Love and Hugs Marcie

When I was off hormones, yes I went through menopause. As you  appear to be self medicating, it's difficult to tell what is going on as we are pretty much familiar with more effective doctor prescribed medications. It could be your hormone levels are dropping and it could be a reaction to something you are using.

With creams, there may be oversaturation and eventually absorption becomes less and less. Or, estrogen dose may be too low. Please let your doctor know ASAP. I trust more gel than cream and find that with gel, washing the area before application is best, otherwise reapplying without washing (removing cream/gel and dead cells on top of skin) in the same area can lead to weaker absorption over time. My personal experience.

With any topical that does not come in a measured unit dose (packet or pump or what ever), it is very hard to accurately control the dose you receive.

I recommend patches, sublingual or injectable estradiol as the dose is much more accurate and you will be able to better manage the side effects.

I can confirm that hot flashes occur in my case. Also sweating has increased during night.

That all comes along in the course of hormon readjustment during HRT.

Those are symptoms of not enough sex hormones. Your E and T are too low. If E is high enough, this should not occur.
