Something rather comical came to mind today. People in MO pronounce the name of the state differently.
MissourI and Missourah. I have always said Missourah. And it's funny when talking to people from out of state, because a lot of them have no clue that you're talking about this state. It seems that no one outside the state pronounces it that way.
So what I'm asking is, how do you pronounce it? Had any comical reactions?
I have never been strong on pronunciation mostly because of hearing limitations that I was born with, but I use Missouree. Of course my roommate and I would always get in the argument with the nut pecan or pecon. I knew it was pecon and that's how she pronounced it but I would say pecan sometimes to make her think I was a hard case. ;D
I prefer to call it misery. (jokingly of course)
There's something about Missouri and mispronouncing names. Versailles and Nevada are a couple that stand out at the moment.
