Title: Packer Dust
Post by: bricebowl on June 07, 2017, 10:52:57 AM
Does anybody know where I can find some packing dust for cheap? I just bought a packer and I was getting some fairly cheap dust from TranZwear, but the shipping is fairly expensive and I don't want to have to spend so much on the dust.

What other places sell packing powder?

I use cornstarch (like you get in the baking isle in the grocery store) on my mr limpy and masho.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Often I find the shipping somewhat expensive but the solution I use is to order in quantity when possible. If you spread the shipping over a year or two worth of supplies, it tends not to be very much.

I too use cornstarch.  Look in the baby stuff isle at the grocery store, it should be with the baby powder.

Alexthecat, I don't think you want to use food-grade cornstarch.  You might cause some unforseen problems with your packers if you do.

Good luck!

I was not aware that there was more than one kind of cornstarch. Do you have some links to where you read that food cornstarch was bad for packers? I haven't noticed any problems.

No links, it is simply an educated guess.

I think I will stick to my food cornstarch then since when I looked up baby cornstarch it had added ingredients that are not found in food cornstarch https://www.walmart.com/ip/Johnson-s-Refreshing-Magnolia-Petals-Baby-Powder-15-oz/15611016?action=product_interest&action_type=title&beacon_version=1.0.2&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&client_guid=f48bb961-b207-430f-8804-7c05c4b311a0&config_id=2&customer_id_enc&findingMethod=p13n&guid=f48bb961-b207-430f-8804-7c05c4b311a0&item_id=15611016&parent_anchor_item_id=10294013&parent_item_id=10294013&placement_id=irs-2-m2&reporter=recommendations&source=new_site&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id=GYZBhoHdMOV9s6_3MY-rlI

Ugh.

I wouldn't use that stuff on a bet.  I don't need my junk smelling like flowers! [emoji23]

I use regular cornstarch for babies, no scent.  Its the same stuff I've used for over a decade on my toys, so I know its fine for my packer.

Let me know how the food grade corn starch works out over time, okay?

Hn, that's good.  Always great to have more options.
