Title: Not sure what procedure/surgeon to go with
Post by: Rengar on June 09, 2017, 05:05:32 PM
Hey guys and gals! I just found out that my top surgery is covered through Colorado Kaiser Permanente but I'm in a bit of a pickle.
Here's what I'm dealin with. Kaiser in Colorado doesn't have a top surgeon employed with them until August which isn't too long of a wait.

So in order to remedy that they've contracted out Dr. Paul Steinwald in Denver until August. Now I know Steinwald is really great and his results are top notch...if you have larger breasts. Mine are small and I know I can be a candidate for Peri. My whole deal is that aesthetic and little scarring are my top priority. Nipple sensation isn't on my list of things I can't live without. I had spinal fusion done when I was 14 almost a decade ago and I still can't feel a whole lot in the middle of my back. I really like the way Peri results look and most of the people in my life see me as a cisgendered male.

I am really not a big fan of top surgery scarring and I don't want to go through it if I don't have to! My mother has given me some advice on what to say if I do have to go with T-Anchor but I don't want to even get asked. The other surgeon comes on in August but there's not a whole lot of information on her. All I know is that she's been doing top surgery for a while. Once she comes on, Steinwald will no longer be available.

I'm getting my WPATH letter written by their psychologist soon after my appointment on the 29th of June. After that Steinwald's office will call me to set things up. What would you guys do? Would you wait it out or just deal with the scarring? I'm leaning towards waiting it out. I've got no problems with revisions.

I already know about Steinwald so I would research this other surgeon and think long and hard about which one I want my surgery done by. Basically which results look the best for your body type? Can you contact the other surgeon ahead of time for a consult? Compare techniques, because I doubt the other surgeon does the stalk method like Steinwald does. After doing all that then go with what your gut tells you because you need to know you made the right choice when they go to knock you out for surgery.
