'CHRISTIAN bookshops are refusing to stock copies of a new study guide that challenges standard New Testament translations that describe gay sex as sinful.'
QuoteMost New Testament translations are based on a lack of understanding of Greek word meaning and context, and disregard academic research, which shows passages in earlier translations are wrong, she says.

Well I'm sure I'll be in the minority here, but I really don't want any government telling any religion what to say or believe, or any business what kinds of literature what they must carry or not carry. Let the consumers decide. Even if I may disagree, I support their decision to carry what they feel is appropriate. If we do not take that stand, there is nothing to keep us from one day being told what to believe either.
And one more issue, I would not support a work just because I happen to agree with the conclusion. If the scholarship is bad, as seems to definitely be the case here, I have no plans to spend my money on it. IMNSHO, as someone who has studied this issue in both Hebrew ad Greek, the argument, as presented in the article is rather bogus, untrue to the text, and is not needed to make our case. I think that is part of the uproar here.
