Although my surgeon told me there was a 6 inch depth postop, I only ever get to 5" (5+ if labia counts). Is it possible to reach 6 with dilating, or am I just making a risk by trying to hard ?
Can increasing the diameter more and more be a project for later, or is that something that should always ne on my mind ?
Thanks
My understanding is the labia counts. To reach maximum depth, keep a constant pressure on the dilator and while you know your all the way in, it shouldn't hurt. I keep about 4 pounds of pressure on the dilator but you may need a little less if you are still healing. Diameter can be gained latter on but you should attempt to stay with the doctors schedule.
You can generally increase diameter with dilation, but depth is usually more or less permanent (and Brassard, at least, says the labia don't count). Don't forget, though, that it's impossible to insert a penis like a dilator; bodies get in the way of the penis going in all the way to the base, so a 5" vagina can usually accommodate much longer penises.
Brassard also says "Gaining depth by applying more pressure is not advised," for what that's worth, but you should always listen to your own surgeon first.
I've read of one women gaining an extra inch in the early months (7.5 to 8.5). You'd want to be really careful you don't hurt yourself though, as I've heard of serious injury as well (not the same person). I don't think its possible later on.
I was 4 inches post op (perhaps 4.5) without labia depth. I am now 5.5 inches depth. I was told by doctor McGinn that I can increase depth and shown the amount of pressure to use. When measured they do not measure labia depth and do not push. Then they push see if there is stretch. I was told I am 5.5 inches with a lot of stretch.
Thanks everyone. I've been pushing the dilator, but also had in mind what would happen if I push too hard. Maybe i'll back off the pressure just a little, to be sure.
When you push make sure you have the dilator at the correct angle. I use a consistent force as shown to me by my doctor. I would guess it is about 4 pounds. Perhaps others can share to what force they push their dilator.
