Title: 3 weeks post op-yellow tissue and tightening dilation
Post by: marctravis on June 19, 2017, 10:44:27 AM
Hi everyone. I hope everyone is doing ok.
My wife and I have some concerns and need some more advice. We've noticed the tissue at the bottom of the vagina around the opening is turning yellow. There isn't any additional pain. The doc says to start using a dry bandage and replace after every dilation, shower or going to the bathroom. Google says it's dead skin. I'm worried the bandage will stick to the tissue and be painful to remove. Anyone have experience with this? Is this normal?

Also, regarding dilation, we are using the number 1 for 15 minutes then the number two for 15. Since starting this regimen the number 2 has become more difficult to insert. Seems like the vagina is tightening up. Is this normal at 3 weeks? I heard it might happen but thought that it would be much later.

Thanks for any advice

I think what your wife is seeing at this point is accumulation of protein and white blood cell exudate. I had a lot of this starting at week two which has slowly reduced but only resolved around 7 weeks for me. I didn't see skin shedding until week 5 post op.

I also began to see tightening of the neovaginal canal at the 3rd week in, it's formation of new tissue, collagen creating strong tissue. At 7 weeks out for me I'm still dilating with #s 1&2 and the last inch or so of depth is pretty tight more often than not.

I'm sure the details are all YMMV but for sure I'm seeing all the symptoms you describe

Sounds like Sadie is correct.

I'm 11 weeks out and I've had the same kind of tightening. I've also struggled with granulation that had to be treated with Siver Nitrate from stretching the skin too much around the vagina canal opening. That's been a pain in the ass. I was up to dilator #4, now I'm back to #1 and #2 until that clears up.
