Title: I hate my chest hair so much
Post by: Karmorda on June 23, 2017, 01:14:21 PM
I need help every time I try to shave my upper chest I get horrible razor bumbs everywhere, my chest isn't super hairy but I hate this and it's really started to make me feel dysphoric I've been just shaving and taking the ugly bumbs because I don't know what to do. I looked up advice online and found some that suggested shaving with the grain not against it but while granted this reduces it also ignores like 80% of hair the razor just seems to push it down and it glides over it. I tried nair today I left it on for 7 minutes and while it got some hair off now I have a giant red splotch and it still didn't get everything! And even in the spots I cleared through a combo of nair and carrfully shaving today I can see little black tiny hairs which is another thing in having to shave my chest everyday or the hair becomes noticble. It grows that fast. I'm going to try home waxing next. Electralisis for my chest is out of the question for a long time  (I haven't even started that on my face yet)

I know this is a silly thing to  be depressed over, but coupled with everything else it's another feature to hate about myself it's another feature that just makes me feel like I'll never be a woman.

Final question I've been on hormones a month will HRT eventually cause me to stop having chest hair? because I really don't want to choose between having hairy boobs or ugly red bumby boobs. Also I should note I don't have this problem anywhere on my body I can shave my legs, arms, groin and belly with no problems.

This what I mean it look like I have a skin disease http://m.imgur.com/oC8Bt4d (http://m.imgur.com/oC8Bt4d)

Sorry you are having trouble with it. I think waxing would be better for you. I suggest you use Brazilian wax. Brazilian wax is thick wax that doesn't need strips. It hardens and you rip the wax itself off. It picks up the hair much better. We always use it at work for chest and back hair. I remember someone here saying that the spironolactone can thin out chest hair.

Hormones may reduce body hair but for now, you might consider an electric razor. They don't cut quite as close so they are not as likely to cause skin issues after shaving. If your body hair is dark, Laser hair removal may be a better option for you. Laser cost a fraction of the price that electrolysis does and it's far faster.

I have the same problem. I did buy a good razor Phillips Norelco that was not cheap and it does a pretty good job.  It does take longer than a razor but gets almost as smooth. If you stay with a razor use a new blade as much as possible. I use the Gillett 5 blade but after I use it one or two times on my chest and face, by the 3rd day it starts irritating badly and definitely by the 4th. So I switch it up between electric and wet shave. Oh, and the electric is wet dry and it seems to do slightly better wet. At least to me.
Good luck!!

When you mentioned Nair I remembered how I had it on for the amount of time it says on the bottle and still burned my skin and part of my nipples. It took a while for them to heal. I used Nair for men. As for the bumps, I get the exact same results and it's annoying but I have to tolerate it until I can get it lasered off.

Laser did wonders for my chest hair. After the first session it looked like I was covered in hives, but after that, there was no looking back. Combined with HRT, the chest hair is gone.

I must be a bit fortunate for chest hair, even though I didn't feel that way.  My hair was always thick and long, but somewhat sparsely covering the area.  Nair did nothing to it, but my skin didn't get bumps when I shaved and I had to shave every other day.  Now, I need to shave every week and a half or less.  After 9 months on HRT it is growing slower, thinner, lighter, and with far fewer hairs.  They are still  bit scratchy, but I think that is due to the shaving, I'm thinking about plucking the last few that grow in dark and let the others wear down to stop being scratchy.

I think you would be a perfect candidate for laser removal...even if its not medical grade laser but IPL, that works ok on leg and chest hair.
