The Advanced option... LoL... reminds me of a video game... in fact, poll should be as such:

So, you filthy n00bs, how far along are you in your transition???

  • Select Screen / Character Creation
  • Tutorial
  • Plane, Train, or Automobile Stage
  • Secret Underground Laboratory Stage

Five months of HRT, two months of RLE.  I've come a long way, but I'm thinking I am still a beginner.

28 Months into it and I'm pretty much completed everything I wanted to do.  HRT, FFS, BA, GCS, legal name and gender change, DL, Passport, College Records, Birth Certificate and Financial Records.

The only thing left to do is to finish going through puberty and settle into life as an elderly woman....

Pre HRT, looooong waiting list in the U.K. Two months RLE and just started electrolysis.

Peace and love and all that good stuff,

Started to transition at 15, began HRT at 17, went "full time" at 18 in 1973 and had SRS in 1977. I think I'm done?  :)

Funny thing is though, life itself is a transition that never ends. It would be really boring if it wasn't.

Letsee started realizing I was a girl when I first put on moms clothes parading around the house at 4... to my parents horror & my brothers amusements.  Started transition at around 19-21 (honestly its hazy exactly when..)  Full time for sure at 22, on HRT.  Voice surgery around 23, GCS 26, a bazillion years later (@44 years old, 4-11-2001) ffs.  Oh, and some other 'fun' procedures were braces, tooth extractions, eye surgery, hernia repair, and probably others I'm forgetting.

I'm tired of surgeons knives.  I need a break ^_^

Speaking of options for this poll, I have another one that is missing. "One surgery away" would be a nice option.

It did push me back though because surgery did two things:
1. Gave my face a much sharper appearance
2. Destroyed my voice to where it can't be repaired. The highest I can speak now I s in the 130-140hz range which is not even close to a cis woman's lower range. Before surgery I was able to speak clearly in the 190-200hz range with no problem but now I struggle to even hit past 140hz

I always said that I wasn't going to transition, yet here I am living fulltime with name change done, gender change in the works, on HRT, and having an orchiectomy sometime this summer.

I've also always said that I go where life takes me. What a long strange trip it's been.  :)

I didn't follow the standard sequence.  I tackled hair first (face and body), almost complete with that as I begin a bunch of other stuff.  I guess my transition has transitioned.

That isn't true. Dr Haben could use CTA surgery to restore the damage to your larynx. As CTA surgery is a older voice surgery procedure, I suspect there may be other doctors who could preform it as well.

22 years old, 4.5 years on HRT, all documents changed, haven't heard my birth name spoken for years now. Looking to begin the surgical portions of my transition through the next couple years. Then as far as I'm concerned it's a thing of the past!!

I feel I'm getting there, HRT for almost a year and 1/2 now, about 1/2 way or more done with electrolysis.  All Legal Paperwork changed with name and Legal gender updated on Birth Certificate and Passports and so on, and just got all my letters for Top and Bottom Surgery which will be with in the next 2 years, Top and then Bottom a year later. So I feel I'm on track where I want to be, more so for only just starting the process 2 years ago lol :)

Oh let's see.... barely started. [emoji53] I decided to transition in 2012. But I had some serious financial issues that resulted in me being homeless for s year.

Things are getting back to normal now, and in fact I might have the money available for FFS, which is something I desperately need. I won't start unless I know I can do that.

I've been aware of my gender mismatch since I was about 4. I'll be 60 later this year! Better late than never? lol.

I'm actually having a little appreciation. But I think that's normal.

Possibly however one of the things that is done with CTA surgery is to take off more than the normal amount of larynx. This is done because CTA causes the larynx to budge out so more material needs to be removed to restore the proper neck appearance. If your ENT doctor is willing to forward your information to Dr Haben, you might be able to find out if surgery is possible. If you are interested, this is the contact information. Where I am in transition...

Physically:
I'll be 45 years-old in a few days and my most remote memory of feelings of gender nonconformity dates from when I was barely 4. I am about 5 months into HRT with much faster changes than anticipated, so my social transition will probably have to catch up with the physical one. I lost about 10kg and my breasts still managed to grow from an "almost-A" cup to a good B-cup, I know objectively that my hips and buttocks are rounder, the contour of my face is undoubtedly more feminine and my skin is now incredibly smooth. My wife says that I look a good 15 years younger. I'm almost done with the beard (laser + electrolysis) and am slowly but surely progressing with body hair (IPL @ home).

Socially:
I'm out to my wife, two sons, parents, sister and doctor. At home, I'm full time woman and things have never been so good between the four of us. My parents are having a hard time (my mom much more than my dad, surprisingly). Some time ago, my sister wrote me a seemingly very accepting message, to which I replied... still waiting for an answer (will it ever come?) At work I'm not out yet, but people... well... they're not blind. All of a sudden I've changed from someone unquestionably male to someone much more androgynous. That doesn't go unnoticed. Second looks, more or less discrete, abound. With one isolated exception, nobody asked anything and they treat me super well. Perhaps it's me, but women now talk much more to me, physically closer and much more eye contact than before and using a smoother voice - don't know what to make from this. I plan to have a talk with HR sometime at the end of this year and soon thereafter with my head of department.

Psychologically:
En route to Nirvana. [emoji6]

Hugs, Sarah

Completed, but I had to choose far beyond completion. lol
The options are akin to dominos pizza...We have a medium, a large, and XL.  How can you have a medium with a large and a small?!

To put it in gamers' terms...I've completed the main quest, and most of the significant side quests, and I still work on the the other side quests because I am anal retentive and don't want to leave things undone, but in reality I have beaten the game and put in my hours.  The remaining side quests are purely cosmetic.  :)

First therapist appointment in an hour and a half.  Have had 4 electro sessions.  No end of clothes in the closet, dressing all the time at home.  Have posted enough here to have an avatar.   ;D  So if I were taking an airplane flight somewhere I'd be, I don't know, on the freeway to the airport maybe.   :D  Just have to remember to show up an hour and a half early for the TSA...

Thanks guys!  Therapy was interesting, never having been to a session before.  Still aren't sure of the therapist's gender, btw...andro through and through.  Mentioned a wife, but also being TG themselves.  This wasn't distracting, really, they were very easy to talk to, had lots of interesting remarks and stories to contribute.

Bit out of touch with the 21st century though - I had to explain about Susan's Place, tsroadmap, Anne Vitale, the Digital Transgender Archive.   This made me wonder, too:  I wrote a no-holds-barred autobiography so I wouldn't have to go over every last detail of my life; at the end I asked about HRT and was told I'd need 8 sessions at $50 each for consent to go on low dose estrogen, no AA.  Hmm, did writing the book help in this regard?  No - ordinarily it'd be 16 sessions!  Really?  Do you tell your other clients in advance that putting pen to paper would save them $400?  That all seemed a bit iffy, to say the least.  Or maybe they told other clients that when the time came.  Anyway, all very gatekeeper-y.

I knew about I.C. too and, to their credit, they told me I could just go to Planned Parenthood and sign the papers for Informed Consent and avoid the whole rigamarole.  Which I've decided to do.     So let's get this show on the road!

Hope to catch up with you, Member061817!  These stories about the wonderful feeling from HRT really light a fire for me.

I've really just begun despite coming out to myself and joining here nearly 4 years ago.

Somehow that number really is starting to bother me, it really doesn't seem like it's been that long, high school seemed so much longer...

I wasn't really ready to transition 4 years ago though I don't want to be saying the same thing 4 years from now. I'm just not cis-gender and I'm not going back to pretending that I am. Trying to decide whether I am non-binary or not somehow delayed my decision on doing things that either way, I want to do. I absolutely do not want facial hair or body hair, and could have had these completely gone by now had I not delayed things.

Still in the whole denial/depressed phase to be honest, I am growing my hair out but that's it. My height being 6ft makes me sad although I have some desirable features some very small shoulder width and I guess 'slim' body it just sucks.

Won't bore you all with the details since I am sure most of you (mtf, ftm, etc) go though the whole dysphoria thing but hey, life goes on.  ???

Other, on hold. Nearly 4 years on HRT, It was halted for other health reasons 10 months ago. My PSA shot up since, but the 2 other tests shows 'least likely' for a Gleason score of 7 or above if a biopsy was given. I do have a follow-up exam at the cancer center for that next week. Resume? Unknown. No reappearances of dysphoria and the depression nor did stopping the HRT regime remove the edema in the feet. Just a little 'roid rage' from the natural increase of T to 550 ng/L, normal for a male of my age. There is still the severe fatigue caused by the autoimmune caused neuropathy in the feet and ankles. The pain is down since the halting of the treatment for that and I felt the cold, hard floor of the cabin in spots on the soles of the feet the other night. More on those conditions later after the exams coming up.

I'm still at the beginning stages of my transition. I was on HRT a few years ago for a short time, but I "hit the pause button."  I'm looking to start HRT again in the not too distant future.  Currently, I'm growing my hair out, working towards my weight loss goals, and I'm slowly building up my female wardrobe and other essentials.

I hope that we all get closer to where we want to be before we know it.
