Title: I has two OPIs!
Post by: nathan on November 26, 2007, 07:12:23 PM
*squeeee!*

I have nail polish! :o Brisbane Bronze and Kyoto Pearl from OPI. Pearl for my "gother than black" days, and bronze for a steampunk look.  It's my first nailpolish ever, and I'm probably gonna waste this stuff practicing, but who cares.  I'm going to look awesome to the power of win.  Probably wear the pearl to work tomorrow if all goes well tonight. >:D

This thread is now about makeup! Let the genderbending commence!

I have black painted toenails and wear eyeliner all the time, even when passing as male. People actually notice when I don't wear eyeliner because they're so used to it.

Am I the only weirdo who can't stand the way nail polish feels on your nails?  I used to wear nail polish all the time, but now it just feels WEIRD on my nails and I can't stand it.   ???  I love nail polish too...I have tons left over from high school (we're not going to talk about how old that polish is...).  I had blues, blacks, greens, purples... :'(.  It just sits there now.

On the other hand, I hate it when my toes AREN'T painted...*sigh*  Right now they are silver, but it's coming off...anyone have a good suggestion for how to keep polish from rubbing/chipping off?  Maybe if I could keep it looking nice, I could start painting my fingernails again...

I love my nail polish!!! I'm in guy mode 99.99% of the time but I keep my toes painted all the time.
I was using the cheap stuff and I had the same problem. Chipped and peeled and never lasted more than a few day.

My wife and I bought some of the better stuff at Sally's (Orly and Finger Paints) and it lasts quite a bit better.
Then I purchased the OPI brand from an online store.  I love the OPI polish.  I've had it on for weeks at a time and it looks as good as the first day. OPI is definitely my new favorite.

Hmmm, All this talk of polish....I think I just might go order a few new colors.

I keep my toenails polished all the time.  Granted, in guy mode I have them stuffed in shoes all day long, but as soon as I get home, off come the shoes and Hello Piggies!

It may be overkill, but here is what I generally do for them, and it usually lasts a couple of weeks until time to trim them again.

I start with either a base coat or some nail strengthener.  Next a couple of coats of polish, then at least one layer (and usually 2) of top coat.

OPI is one of my favorite brands...I love the names they use..."I'm not really a waitress"..."Your a Pisa Work"..."Senorita Rose-alita"...and my favorite name "Nice Color, Eh?"

I used to wear it, and liked the way it looked, but got concerned about long term effects on nail strength. I play guitar and use my right hand nails to pluck. SOme of that stuff is pretty toxic! :icon_drdodgy:

I used to keep my toes painted all the time and up until a few years ago my finger nails as well. I stopped painting my nails my last two years of high school because I was working with food on an almost daily basis.

I haven't really felt the need to repaint since then but perhaps in the future I shall.

That's interesting.  I was having a problem with my nails splitting.  Before I play I coat them with clear polish and haven't had a problem since.  Of course it give me an excuse to have shiny nails all the time.

I have all kinds of colors. Black, blue, green, white, ... . My toenails are normally always polished. In white or in another color. On my hands I put transparent sometimes and I also have one of natural color now. When I put that on you need to look close to see it. Sometimes I paint only one nail.

When I go to the swimming pool I put it off the big nail of my foot.  But I think one of these days I will leave it on.

Problem is I'm still a beginner. I realize painting the nails is more difficult than you might think if you want to have it done nicely.

Something else that's great for your nails is buffing!  It feels nice and it makes your nails smooth and shiny, all while increasing the circulation in your fingertips!
