Title: Trans man passing
Post by: Sammie on June 26, 2017, 10:31:20 PM
I have been binding for almost 10 months now but there are times when I can't put one on because they either don't fit (I have been gaining weight for a very long time) or it looks like I have a beer belly.
Does anyone have any advice on either how to pass without a binder or make the belly not appear so big while wearing a binder?

I have a beer belly. It is obvious with or without binder. I'd love to have a flat belly too, but I have come to terms with my body. I look like this.

A belly looks different on every one. Bellies are soft and not completely flat, if you are not flexing your muscles all the time.

Maybe you need a bigger binder if you can't get it on? If you are still growing that is natural. Your chest is also growing along with the rest of your body.

Shapewear that constricts but doesn't offer extra padding in feminine spots exists. It's not really for me, for a variety of reasons, but there's no shame in wearing it if it makes you feel better about your body.

That said, like everyone else, you're pretty much stuck with your body type. Your belly is going to be there, exactly the same size, regardless of what you do with your chest. Going without a binder might make it more socially acceptable because women aren't under quite as much pressure to be physically fit, but personally, I'd take dealing with average insecurities over dealing with being misgendered any day.
