Post by: eyesk8rboi on June 27, 2017, 07:55:20 PM
Anyone else get chafey, under boob rash from binding?

How do you prevent that?

Have not experienced that yet. Maybe it is sweat doing it. Humid environments usually creates rashes.

Maybe some baby-powder? To keep it dry?

I haven't experienced it yet, either. But like MeTonie said, it could be humidity.

Never.

Then again I use more than just the binder to keep everything in place, and also powder sometimes because I like the sensation of a dry chest.

I get this sometimes in the summer when I'm sweating a lot.

A lot of people swear by baby powder, but my skin doesn't really react well to that either. And so I'll sometimes wear a tank top or sports bra underneath the binder to absorb the sweat. It makes things hotter, but I don't have to deal with a painful rash once it's over.

Once in awhile I'll get chaffing just from being too hasty in adjusting the tissue where it needs to go. In that case, it's just a matter of remembering to always put your hand over your nipple as you shove things into the right spot.

Back in my binding days, I'd get minor redness that would quickly fade after the binder was removed. You know what was worse, though? The sweating. Holy **** did my chest sweat. The sweater calves had their own swimming pool.
They hit the chopping block before I found any solutions.

I used to get this when wearing sports bra and an Underworks binder. I think my skin was just sensitive to the scratchy material. Using anti perspirant deodorant in that area helped a bit.

Yeah, I'm in the South East US and we're humid AF, so that makes a lot of sense and definitely put me more at ease about it! I wasn't super worried because my skin is like "I'm sensitive. Wait no I'm not. Wait yes I am." so I just assumed it was something like that, but was really curious. (and high)

It's also really warm in my office, so that probably doesn't help because....you know, give the only warm-natured person in the building the warmest office in the building.

The chest sweat struggle is sooooooo real.

I'll definitely look into trying baby powder though....And also the nipple adjusting trick!

Thanks guys!

Baby powder has gotten some bad press for being linked to cancer so I switched to using corn starch. It is usually cheaper too.

"Sweater calves!" I don't know why I find that term so amusing, but I do. I think I'm going to have to borrow it for my own use. 8)

I guess I have experienced some mild redness and itching, but it fades quickly. The sweating hasn't been as much of an issue for me yet as we're having a really mild summer so far, but I imagine it'll make things worse in that department.

I've had this problem for years. The rashes get really bad, almost like severe diaper rash.  I found that using the solid antipersperant there helped. I put on my regular deoderant under my arms, then grab up the white stick and run it under the boobs.  If you're sensitive to antipersperant that may not be helpful, but I found it worked great and was much less mess and hassle than powders.
