Title: Hair Loss after surgery
Post by: sweetc on June 29, 2017, 07:04:16 PM
I recently underwent GRS a week from tomorrow and I was curious as to anyone else experienced dramatic hair loss from their head. I know that my hair has gotten in plenty of tangles so with that hair has been forced to come out since ive been in bed for a significant amount of time but as I brush it there seems to be a never ending amount coming out. I know that the fact I probably haven't had the complete needed nutrition for a while with being on a liquid diet and stuff but even with that does anyone know when Ill have my pre-surgery hair back or when it will all stop following out

Hair loss can happen after surgery. Search google and you'll find heaps about it.

It sounds as of you are experiencing a telogen effluvium which is a temporary form of hairless that will resolve on its own. Telogen effluvium can be triggered by many things such as abrupt changes in hormones, anesthesia, or the surgery trauma itself. It generally doesn't trigger for a month or two after the event and can take 3 to 6 months to resolve.
