Title: Storm Chasing
Post by: sammie-em on July 02, 2017, 06:05:15 AM
My hobby is storm chasing. I am an Amature Radio Operator, so when I'm chasing we are in communication with the National Weather Service. I've given many reports and had warnings issued based on my reports. :) I've included some links to some pictures and a video of my chasing adventures. Feel free to ask any questions you might have :)

Vehicle: 2015 Ford Focus (Formerly 2001 Chevy Tahoe)
Radio: Yaesu FT-7900R & FT-8900R
Emergency Lighting: 2xFenix T3 TIR(1 Amber, 1 Green). (On Tahoe ran a Speed Tech Lights K-Force 2 36" Light Bar Green/Amber)
Tornado Count: 5
Years Chasing: 4

73,
I also enjoy ham radio, though Mostly off air things like homebrewing and some repeater building. Ill occasionally bring a rig along on a camping trip. Nothing as exciting as chasing a storm though.

I have never chased storms before, but have always wanted to.  I am mesmerized by tornadoes and severe storms.  I always have been.

By the way, I too am an amateur radio operator.  That's my main hobby.  I've been licensed for 20 years, had ups and downs in radio, but I've loved radio ever since I could remember and wouldn't give up my license for the world.
