Just had top surgery on the 29th and I keep noticing these weird sensations under the bandages/compression binder. It feels almost like something is moving around under there, like little ants crawling on my skin. The compression binder is super tight so I don't see how anything could actually be moving, but it keeps making me nervous, lol. Could this just be the nerves waking up?
My grandmother lost a breast to cancer. She said the same thing after her surgery. I think its like phantom limb pain. 5 years after her mastectomy she says sometimes her missing breast itches.
That is so weird! I guess I expected everything to be completely numb for awhile.
You had many nerves cut in surgery and they start reconnecting pretty soon after surgery. When I underwent GCS, I would get itching for about a year after surgery in places that didn't exist anymore. Some people describe it as electric shocks and others may describe it differently.

I haven't had top surgery yet so can't respond, but it makes sense what others have said. Glad to know you had your surgery and for the most part it went well?!?

This is what I was going to suggest.
I have nerve damage from a tattoo going too deep in a sensitive area and this is the kind of sensation I feel when it acts up.
Nerve damage feels like the nerves are being stimulated even when they are not. This can range from feeling like ants walking on the skin all the way up to constant pain. After surgery I would expect some of the nerves to feel stimulated for a while until things settle down
Thanks for calming my anxiety, guys! It's so weird not being able to see what's going on underneath the bandages.
