Title: Got my hormones tested again.
Post by: Angélique LaCava on July 03, 2017, 06:56:10 PM
Back in February my levels
Estradiol: 162
Testosterone: 12

Last weeks levels
Estradiol: 186
Testosterone:44

Are my recent levels ok? My doctor said she's happy with them, but I'm not happy that my testosterone went up.

Well inside the normal female range which if memory serves is on the order of 10-80.

ik what made it go up, it's the medroxyprpgesterone. As long as it stays around the 40s then I'll be content, but if it rises more I'm going to lower my progesterone back to what it was in February, in February I had increased the dose and I guess the increase caused the testosterone to rise, my sex drive has gotten higher which I like and I feel fine, but I liked knowing I had really low testosterone.

I'm not 100% sure, but I know spiro decreases T (without raising estrogen).

FWIW....my Drs at Kansas Universtity Medical would find your humbers textbook. You need some T. Real question is....how do you feel? How do you sleep?......do you feel mentally alert and happy? With those questions answered positively, I would think you're sailing along nicely.

Medroxyprogesterone acetate does not metabolize to testosterone so the increase is not because of that. Levels will fluctuate in time so it could just be that. As long as you are not seeing any androgenic symptoms...

Medroxyprogesterone acetate can, however, trigger androgen receptors on its own and cause increased libido, body hair growth, sebum (acne), etc. Some may be desirable, some not. :(

Spiro doesn't always decrease T but definitely blocks it AND increases rate of conversion of T to E so it can indeed slightly raise estrogen levels.
