Title: Hello from North Queensland!
Post by: Colonel_Panic on July 09, 2017, 11:51:38 PM
Hi guys!

I'm from North-Eastern Australia. I've recently decided I want to transition MtF after over a decade of struggling with dysphoria, mental illness, all that fun stuff.

I'm a writer and I'm very nearly finished the first draft of my first novel. I've written about seven novels but none of them has been good enough for me, but this one seems like a keeper. It was during the writing that I realised I wanted to transition because it's a female lead and I found myself feeling so empty that I couldn't live in her world.

I actually started self-harming, and that's when I realised I have two choices; transition, or die. Transition seems hard, but death seems pretty permanent to me.

Hi Colonel! ::salutes::
Welcome to the friendliest place on the internet!
My best friend fancies himself a writer, but in 15 years he hasn't finished a single book, so you're way ahead of him!

Hello and a warm welcome!  Sounds like you have put much thought into this.  You're definitely not alone here, and I am glad you were able to identify the root of your issues.  I can relate from personal experience once you're able to start tackling something it sure feels good - even with all the challenges.

Congratulations on almost completing your first novel.  Interesting you created a world for a female protagonist.

I live in Seattle.  I have been to Sydney and Melbourne several times and greatly enjoyed it, but have never been North of there.

Welcome, Colonel!

I love FNQ and can't understand why anybody would want to live anywhere else ;)

To each her own, eh?

When I was a kid I would write a ton of short stories. The main character was always a boy ( actually, it was me) .... hmmm.... I wonder why. Not anymore!

Well done on sorting things out through your writing. It can be therapeutic, for sure.

See you around the traps.
