Title: Phalloplasty vs Metoidioplasty
Post by: NikFtM on July 13, 2017, 07:13:03 PM
Lately I've been looking into both phallo and meta, and I wanted to start this forum to have a comparison of the two.  I want you to add to the comparison as well, especially if you've had bottom surgery already.  Keep in mind: please DO NOT criticize anyone's decisions with comments like "they don't look real," and PLEASE DON'T provide overly biased opinions that hurt other's feelings.  It is okay to say why you didn't personally get one or the other, but you should keep in mind that some want that surgery.
I'll start with a couple comparisons, and please, feel free to add.

Phalloplasty:
-customized length
-stand to void
-more on the expensive side

Metoidioplasty:
-length depends on growth from hrt
-stand to void (not with simple meta)
-on the cheaper side

Don't really have much bottom dysphoria so not really seriously thinking about it but not 100% ruling it out. Here's the list I've come up with.

Phalloplasty-

lot of scarring. Ideally if I had phalloplasty I'd want the graft taking from my forearm to get the best sensation. Plus I'm slightly chubby so not sure if grafts could be taken elsewhere. But I really don't like the look of the scaring involved.

- can perform penetrative sex. I know this type of sex isn't the be all and end all but I feel like I'm missing out. And it looks fun  ;)

-I'd feel more safe as I'd have the same body as a lot of men. More men have a penis larger than 3 inches. I'd just feel more 'complete' as well. Don't know why. I know you can be a man without one.

Meta-

-Added bonus of still having female parts but with a more usable/more practical penis. I particularly like the idea of just having 1st stage meta but can't find any info online about guys just having that done.

-operation is quick with a less difficult recovery time.

Hope my list was useful :)

For me, the scarring and lack of natural ability for erections were a big reason I decided against ever pursuing phallo. Meta, to me, is simply more organic and natural, it would actually feel like me emotionally if not physically. So I'd never be hung like a horse, but that's okay. I have no reason to want a larger penis.
