Title: A full week on hormones :)
Post by: MissKairi on July 14, 2017, 04:12:15 AM
So here we are seven days.
For those of you on hormones, how did you feel after one week?

Me - Happier in general
- Anger is less explosive and evaporates quickly
- less appetite
- struggling to sleep

So that's week one :)

Half a week for me =)

I had some sore muscles to begin with. But could be unrelated to HRT. Now it's all normal.
A sleep well, I eat a lot.

When arguing I don't smash the wall anymore... could be that I am calmer or that last time I hurt myself and I am getting wiser.  ;D

So nothing to be noted. Yet.

This is day #6 of estrogen for me and day 39 on T blockers. I get tired more than before, I also feel sleepy a lot, I would say I'm calmer and I just realized that I tend to let go of the things that bother me a bit more easily as well, like I'll be upset (but not really as aggressive as before) and then will be like "whatever" and will kinda forget it.

Now I don't know if this is related to HRT but I think I'm also more sensitive to cold weather than I was before. Like right now at the office I was like "omg I'm freezing" and others around me were like "it's not that cold". It got me thinking that maybe I will be one of those girls that is always cold lol...which is actually a pleasant change since I was the opposite as a man, always perpetually hot and would sweat easily. I hated it.

I have been on hormones for a month now and it is weird to say I feel normal for the most part. I am generally not stressing out about stuff and I feel very calm. I do get less sleep now for some reason and I eat less but that is also because I am trying to lose weight. I also exercise almost every day and I have pretty good energy levels. I don't get angry that much at all and I have very little to no depression at this time. The major thing now is wishing for changes quicker  ;D

At one week I too had issues with severely decreased appetite.  Some of it was I had an upset stomach during that time, not sure if it was my body adjusting to the meds or what. But even after the stomach cleared up I still had a very low appetite for the first month or so. It was also around the 1 week mark that I noticed the lack of body odor.  Where previously I tended to really stink in the mornings or after a workout, I couldn't even detect my own smell anymore.

Mentally, I was starting to feel a little calmer but also was already getting more moody. I could flip from super excited to super depress to super pissed in the span of 20 seconds (I'm exaggerating but still).  I honestly believe some of the calmness was kind of a placebo effect.  I think it came more for the knowledge that I had taken this step in my journey and was on the right path rather than the hormones actually shifting.

Hmmm interesting. I've read multiple accounts of people saying their odor decreased as well. I've never really consider I had a strong odor as a man but it's good to know that I'm going to smell even less.

for those of you having sleep issues, could you elaborate more on that? and do you take anything to help?

I used to have issues getting to sleep, which is a big part of why I used to drink so much. I stopped drinking back in January and now I use zzzquil or melatonin most nights for a little help. some nights I have trouble sleeping, but for the most part I do pretty good now. I usually get 6.5 to 7 hours of sleep per night, I've definitely become more of a morning person, even on weekends!

I'm starting HRT very soon, I think I'm gunna lose sleep this weekend because I'm so excited lol

I've suffered from occasional insomnia for at least a decade.
I firmly believe this is due to euphoria rather than anything else.

It'll pass :)

I am not sure why I started to have problems sleeping but I started to wake up and my mind would start going through things and it would keep me up sometimes, plus the spiro wakes me up to go to the bathroom at night. I generally get better sleep if I can get at least 30 minutes of a work out in during the day.

A minor update.
I'm placing week one firmly on the euphoria pile
Now the hormones are settling in my appetite has skyrocketed. I feel peckish within an hour of eating.
Insomnia remains but that's down to money stress.

My desire to punch idiots in the face has basically gone (I never did hit anyone by the way but you know that anger bubbling).
My skin does feel softer but that's likely down to moisturising daily now

So HRT will ease the anger & the fact you can flip like a switch!

It has for me definitely.
The niggling raising to annoyance raising to anger raising to explosion now stops at annoyance.
Anger is so draining, this is a nice relief.

I'm 28 days in.  The euphoric feeling has not gone away when you take your estradiol.  It's almost addicting.  My anger issues are nearly gone, and I feel warm and open more.  One thing though, I've already had double takes on skin, face and chest...

I am 6 weeks on HRT. I haven't felt or seen any changes at all yet. I'm still waiting to feel that relief.

Bari Jo,

Welcome to the site. Thanks for sharing. I noticed mental changes and skin changes first. Of course I am nearly an old bird(compared to some on here I am).

Great to hear things are going well. I hope it continues to. It is a long road.
