I've been stuck on a thought that I haven't quite figured out yet. After realizing who and what I am, I've been through a few stages that I believe we've all gone through in our own way: finding different clothes we like to wear, trying to things we're not used to such as makeup, hell maybe even talking differently. For a long time I thought I was just going through a phase and just appealing myself to the public's eyes of what being a girl really was.
So being me, I've always sort of rebelled against anything my family and the public considers "out of the norm". This being the clothes I wear, how I am as a person, how I spend my time, heck even being transgender. The biggest change for me though, is the music I listen to. I'm a die-hard metal head who sits in the back of the city bus with my music blaring as loud as it goes through my headphones without a single care in the world. The image you're thinking of is probably right because I was that stereotypical kid who looked and acted as a kid who you would think fits into that category (long black hair, black clothes, terrible attitude, etc..
The music I listen now though has changed so much. I'm into Fifth Harmony, dubstep (female vocals), and even a select few pop songs (I hate most of it, I find it's not real music. No real talent, but that's just my opinion). It's difficult to explain, but it's like my femininity resonates with the music.
Am I the only one? How has your transitions changed you in little subtle ways?

That is so true. I am an FTM and used to like romantic music. Now I am all about the WHO and Springsteen. Hormones are changing everything about my personality. I like the change but my spouse isn't too happy about it.

I'm sorry to hear, I hope it works out for you. The strange thing for me though, is that I haven't started taking any hormones. Makes me wonder just how much the hormones will actually affect me if my femininity is already the way it is.
In certain areas, I've noticed drastic 180s. In other areas, I've become more of what I already was...while others aspects of me have stayed consistent.
180: I went from cold and distant to an absolutely sentimental and cuddly creature, extremely introverted and shy to somewhat of an exhibitionist.
However, I still am a nerd and love my Transformers, which is "supposed to be" boy's toys. But I didn't care much for those standards.
Early HRT days were horrible. My demeanor went south, and I turned into an absolute terror. Someone told me I reminded them of a young girl going into puberty, and I suppose after living with "male" hormone counts for years, getting blasted with Estrogen and T-blockers did a number on my overall constitution.
Things really stabilized after I had the surgery. I suppose without the T and E being in constant flux and my body becoming more and feminine, I was able to be comfortable with myself and calm down a bit.
I used to be into underground rock. The kind you got on KMET, KPPC, KROQ, KLOS. in the 70's, But lately, I have been paying more attention to the ladies of the era. Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Blondie, Pat Benatar, Heart, Joni Mitchell, Crissy Hinds, Stevie Nicks, Janice. I never really paid much attention to them. But these ladies rock. Pop music is so over produced you don't have to really be able to sing. Carole King is a treasure.

Way to go to the classics! Even as a metal head I can acknowledge true creativity and talent, no matter the style. Another big change I've noticed though is my mood swings. I haven't been diagnosed with anything (haven't been to a doctor or anyone), but I'm pretty sure I'm borderline bipolar so my moods change drastically in an instant, but I've noticed them to be much better since coming out and being me. Work is a pain, but once I find a suitable date to transition full-time I'm hoping they'll go away all together.

I still love my transformers, and am still bummed I sold my Star Wars Collection. I am looking to replace Shrapnel(Skrapnel now) in the near future. Always been a Decepticon Girl, though Dinobots are cool too.

Personality changes: I am far more open now, I find it incredibly easier to talk to people than in the past. I am more willing to discuss my feelings, some times to willing, than before.
My musical tastes have always been a bit eclectic, everything from Weird Al Yankovic to Slayer or Disturbed to Poison or Def Leopard to Chopin or Mozart to Pointer Sisters or Beach Boys. I love SciFi movies, and RomComs, and Comedies in general, especially Monty Python.
I haven't noticed any real changes other than I'm more relaxed but I have noticed that I'm more open to new things. Such as food, drinks, other things.

Yep, compare the music of the 60s, 70s & 80s to see a big difference in the quality of the music. Musicians had to have talent then, because they couldn't be made to sound good with engineering.
My interests haven't changed but the amount of motivation for them has.
