I was at a party with some people I know. I know some of them really well and others are only acquaintances.
One of the people there knew i was trans and out of nowhere asked "What's your guy name?" And I told them, but made sure to make it clear to everyone listening "you don't have to, you know me by another name I get it" all that. I never expect anyone to call me Clay.
Nearly everyone, even those who weren't present for the conversation, called me by my new name.
Made me so happy, wanted to share it here!
That's great! Bet it felt really good. :)
My best friend from childhood said that he didn't care if I wore dresses, he didn't care if I took pills to grow boobs, he didn't care if I changed my name, he was always going to call me Mike. I told him that was fine, that I completely understood. We met 50 years ago, he's used to saying Mike.
When I actually did change my name, he never used Mike again. It was Devlyn or Dev every time. :)
Hugs, Devlyn
That's one question I'll not answer for people. If you didn't know me before, you don't get the privilege of making mistakes.

I have to agree with Liz here. I went to dinner recently with very close old friends. I'm fairly new to this trans stuff and have absolutely no preference what these friends call me. while in this restaurant all three referred to me as Laurie or she/her spontaneously without ever having discussed it. I thought it such a cool thing for them to do for me.
Yes, it felt so good. Love this family.
Hugs,
Laurie
