Title: How long for feeling to come back after surgery?
Post by: Farm Boy on July 16, 2017, 11:18:40 PM
Hey, all.  I'm now 6 months post op, and I still have patches of numbness/tingly feeling on my chest.  I have no feeling in my nipples, but they do react if I poke them.  I had periareolar surgery, which I understand is supposed to have a higher chance of having more sensation afterward.  I know it takes time, and it's different for everyone, though.

For those who've had surgery, how much feeling do you have?  How long did it take for it to come back?  Do you have any feeling in your nipples?

I had DI. I have temperature and pressure sensation in my nips but that's about it.

Do you remember about how long it took for that to come back?  I just touched mine with an ice pack to check, and I couldn't feel it at all.  lol  Sensation directly below them is almost normal, but the nipples themselves, I've got nothing.

Specifically no, but if I had to guess I would say sometime in the first year?

Cool, thanks!  It's not the worst thing in the world if feeling doesn't come back, but it'd be nice.  Maybe I still have time.

I think for peri, as you said, the chances of sensation coming back may be faster. Faster as in between half a year and a couple of years - the nerves have to adjust after all. I can´t help you with experience though, another half year of waiting for me  :P
