Hello Everyone,
I started HRT this weekend and so begins a new chapter 50+ years in the making. I honestly never thought this day would come when I could fully accept the person I have always known I was on the inside. From what I have read here and on other forums so many of us reach a point when we must live as our true self. My denial of that for so long wrecked my health and nearly every relationship I have ever been in. Both needed to change and change quickly before I pushed myself to a point of no return. I luckily found an amazing doctor the specializing in the health care of the LGBT community in my area. My old regular family doctor was not someone that I wanted to start this journey with and my new doctor is fully capable in total health care. With her help, I am now on the path I have always wanted to be on. I have my fears and plenty of self-doubt on how the rest of the world will accept the new improved me. At this stage in life, I really don't care all too much what others think as long as I'm treated fairly and as another human being. Living in a small town in a solidly red state does raise some concerns but I have found I am not alone with this struggle and that there is support locally I never knew would be there.
Well, I really just wanted to say "hi" and hope to learn and get to know everyone as my journey continues.

Welcome, Ryanne!
And congrats on starting your new life this weekend. It won't necessarily be a magical carpet ride all the way to womanhood, but it's a big step that so many of us have to make at some stage.
When the carpet hits turbulence, you know where to seek shelter, right here. We do mid-flight refueling and repairs too ;D

Hi, Ryanne!
Welcome to the site.
I'm happy to read that you are coming to accept yourself, a really big step on the journey. Even better, finding good medical care to help you is a nice thing. This of us pursuing some sort of medical transition rely heavily on having a supportive doctor, and I am glad you found one.
We have a number of different forums here, some of which may help you in getting better responses for your posts. I do have a few suggestions for you as a new member to help you get started.
Although you do mention starting HRT, this post looks like your introduction of yourself to our site, and really belongs over in our Introductions forum. (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,8.0.html) I'll move it over there for you and leave a note here so others can find it.
If you have questions on hormone replacement therapy, you will get the best response to your questions by asking them over in our Hormone Replacement Therapy forum (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,42.0.html) for our transitioning members.
I hope you feel welcome here, and I hope you can find some of what you may need here.

Once again, welcome to Susan's. Look around, ask questions and join in.
Ryanne, welcome!
I am SOOO excited for you - I can relate as my first endocrinologist appointment is tomorrow morning. I am also a bit beyond the half century mark. Sounds like you're on a good track now. There are so many details where I've found it invaluable to be able to read and interact with others with similar experiences or questions.

Hi Ryanne,
I'm Laurie, MtF and a bit older and I've got a bit of a head start on you with the HRT. :P ;D I'm also a self appointed unofficial greeter here as such I would like to welcome you to Susan's Place ((Hug)) I do so hope you find what you need here and decide to stick around and share your newly begun journey into a new life with us. Come in, come right on in and join us who are here to share our journeys, and to get help in the difficult parts or give help to others as we can. Here, this chair is nice and comfy. It Kendra's but she is so excited that she is seeing her endocrinologist tomorrow that she can't sit down and she wouldn't mind anyway. I know this because I had the pleasure of meeting with her two days ago and she's a wonderful gal. Oh I should tell you that I'm not really that far ahead of you in my journey as I only started HRT last December. This site has helped me tremendously as I am one of those fearful souls that need a bit of help from time to time to keep me moving in the right direction. LOL No those rumors of the girls here having to use a cattle prod on me are mostly exaggerated.
Well Ryanne, know that you are welcome and wanted here by all of us.
Hugs,
Laurie
Hi Ryanne! Welcome! Congrats on starting HRT!! I just started 5 days ago, myself. Looking forward to everything it brings!
Hello Ryanne!
Congratulations on starting HRT. A fantastic step towards a happy, positive future. Sounds like you're in a very similar boat to a few of us here - I also started just last week!
Looking forward to sharing your experiences over the coming months

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I see I'm not alone on just starting HRT with a few of you. I know it has only been a few days but already starting to feel like a different person emotionally. Only way to describe it is calm. Something I rarely felt when constantly at war with being who the world expected me to be and the person I wanted to be. This new feeling is something I can live with and reinforces that I made the right choice for myself.
Thanks again for listening and I'll keep everyone updated in the transition part of the forum.

Welcome Ryanne. I'm so happy for you and your new chapter in life. I'm sure you are glowing now. Enjoy it love!
