I'm currently going through consultations with surgeons, they all generally agree on what I need done. I am debating on going to a surgeon who does not do type iii forehead reconstruction. What are your opinions on achieving a feminine profile without the full reconstruction? Link included below. Thanks!

Edit: I would like to know if it's possible for me to develop a feminine appearance from type 1 alone. I do not want to go to a surgeon for type iii and end up too flat looking, because I want to retain some of the character of my current face, but hopefully feminize it enough so that it reads female.

Well... There are surgeons (at least one I know) which are flexible and donˋt do fix Type I or Type III. You may do a consultation with one of them...

The forehead classification is not based on the procedure but on the forehead. A type 1 forehead has no sinus cavity and thus can be burred, a type 3 forehead has a sinus cavity and needs a different approach. Using a type 1 procedure on a type 3 forehead will only give minimal results or create risks of breaking into the cavity.

And because of that I'm wondering why some surgeons do not differentiate.

The character of you face depends on so more than the shape of your forehead. So much, actually, is the geometry of your eyes, nose, and mouth.
If you don't opt to feminize your forehead as much as possible, you risk ending up with an ambiguous result that may not lead you to getting the gendering you really need -- unless you really want to be read as androgynous.

Either they misunderstood diagnosis and treatment as it was described in Dr Os book, or, more likely they know about the procedures but do not care about diagnosis and apply the procedures as they see fit. In any case doing a type 1 procedure is a lot easier and faster than a type 3 procedure, so its something a surgeon can do without haveing a whole lot of experience in FFS - and it saves money as it is faster and thus also takes less time in the OR
