Title: When would be the ideal time for me to start laser?
Post by: missmolly on July 31, 2017, 08:36:46 AM
I am only a few days into HRT but for me I want to hold off on getting facial hair removal as long as possible as I want to present male until I am completely ready to go full time. I feel like having facial hair is something that can conceal my transition until I am ready.

My facial hair game has always been rather weak, I can grow facial hair but its always been patchy and on the thinner and I have never had the full beard/face coverage. Plus I have never been one to grow any chest or back hair. So I am guessing I wouldn't need as many laser sessions to get the job done as other men who grow a lot thicker and heavier beards/facial hair.

However at the same time I don't want to wait too long and cut it too close to my full time switchover.

The best time was last year. Today is a pretty good alternative.

I say get it done sooner than later. Since you don't have much it won't be as big of a change. I had a perpetual 5 o'clock shadow and losing mine drew less attention than growing my hair out.

Yesterday. Laser may take 10 or more treatment and it's very likely that you will require electrolysis to clean up what's left. With electrolysis you must have 3-4 days growth when you have treatment so unless you are willing to go full time with 5 o'clock shadow, facial hair removal should start 1-2 years before full time. It's unlikely that anybody will notices once you clean shave and if they do, just say you are getting treated for a irritation problem caused by the beard. You won't even be lying about that.

Agreed, I've just had my 10th laser appointment (started about a year ago) and I still have noticeable facial hair which is mostly white at this point.

I'll be switching to electrolysis for 6 months probably and then I should be done but it is a very long process. Start now.

Based on what I experienced, I completely agree with the other comments.

Individual hairs are on separate growth cycles.  One reason for multiple laser or electrolysis sessions is to kill hair at the optimum point in its cycle.  If a particular hair isn't at the right growth stage the root is stunted but isn't destroyed and can regrow.

Like others here asap. I did not have heavy facial hair but even then  it has taken three years with a combination of laser and electrolysis. I found with laser that many of the dark  hair that I thought were gone came back. Today, I still have some pesky white hairs that I have electrolysis  every 6 months.
