Title: Hello Everyone
Post by: Sarah-Jayne on August 01, 2017, 12:05:16 PM
Hi all

Just for all you Americans out there, I am English, so sorry if my terms of reference are a bit different. My given name is Mark, but I want to be Sarah-Jayne. I'm 52, biologically male but mentally female and always have been. I started cross-dressing at 10 yo, not knowing why, just I hated that thing dangling between my legs and not understanding that either. I grew up in a strict Catholic family, so discussion and exploration was a no-no, but I did it anyway. I grew up in a macho culture, lots or beer, Rugby, pussy hunting, you know, being a MAN. I'm not. I look at a girl/woman and I examine their fashion style, make-up, demeanour and want to be like them.

Because of my Trans state, I have ended up an alcoholic, which I am currently in treatment for, I have learnt to stop hating myself (mostly) and this is the first TG forum I have ever joined. I need some friends, so if there's anyone out there who can relate, I would love to hear from you.
Love and peace to all

Sarah-Jayne

Hello Sarah-Jayne, and welcome!

As you are English, you're aware Americans colour language differently ;) but hey we are all neighbours.  I live near Seattle which has weather similar to London.

I am MTF and had my last alcoholic beverage in 2003.  I understand and want to congratulate you on your decision.  At the time, I told friends I had consumed 80 years of alcohol during my first 40.  When I stopped drinking I had some supportive friends, and some who said they were supportive but clearly were not - and that's fine.  Discovering which people are true friends and which ones were just acquaintances saved me a lot of time.

This is the only social network I am active on.  When I first spotted Susan's Place I thought some of the rules were a bit imposing, but then realized it's for a very good reason and is one of the reasons this site isn't just another site - this is a community of awesome people determined to be thoughtful, supportive and helping us discover ourselves.  In person I sometimes get a bit raw with language but I try to be careful here, considering some of our members are in grade school / primary school - and are very important in forming our community.

Along those lines we always provide some information to new members, and I will add it here for you.  This helps keep things running more smoothly and may save you time as a reference.

A Cautionary Note:
This is a public forum so please remember when posting that The Internet Never Forgets, and the various web crawlers and archival sites out there may retain information that you post.

We cannot ensure that any information you share on the site will be protected from public view and/or copying or reproduction. This warning is also listed in the Terms of Service listed below.

If you give out personal information on Susan's you are responsible for any consequence.

I also want to share some links with you. They include helpful information and the rules that govern the site.  It is important for your enjoyment of the site to take a moment to go through them

Hi Sarah-Jayne

I'm Laurie, MtF, 64 and I am one of those that can relate. Well except for being English and always knowing I was female (that took me awhile to figure out).
I, as a self appointed unofficial greeter would like to welcome you to Susan's Place. (hug) come on in and relax. Have a look around. Have a look at those links Kendra gave you as they will tell you the rules and show you where you can find things. Like information on what you have to wait until you have 15 posts to do.
I too was a life long cross dresser and thought for many many years that it was all I was. It wasn't. I also am a recovering alcoholic with 18 years clean and sober. I was married and had two children. My son passed several years ago and my daughter is one of those coming out casualties along with the my son in law and 5 grand children.

  Wel welcome again Sarah-Jayne.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Hi Sarah-Jayne - Welcome to Susan's!

There are a few of us English here and many more of us who can relate to your story.  I too spent many years trying to present as male, finding comfort in a bottle of wine but have recently started to embrace the girl within and take back control of my life.  It sounds like you've taken some big steps to turn your life around and accept your true self.  I'm sure things will only get better for you now

I'm from Essex, if you ever want to talk, feel free to drop me over a PM

Charlotte x

Welcome Sarah-Jayne!

I live in Australia but was raised and mostly educated in Germany. You will be surprised how many of us can relate to your story. I found out about this community not long ago and it was only a few months ago where I became aware what transgender meant and that I was that all my life but had no name for how I felt. I was 100% sure I was the only one that felt that way and so I never talked about how I felt to anybody, until recently.

You are definitely among understanding friends here.

Tapatalk is a mobile app that you can use instead accessing the forum via a Web browser. I can't speak to it's security,  but many here use it (including me),  and many other websites around the world.
