Title: Uniforms. Your experiences?
Post by: aimlesswanderer on August 05, 2017, 01:18:14 AM
Hey guys, I'm curious, what are your experiences regarding uniforms? I'm still in school, and I my teacher gave me the male uniform cause I asked. Did anyone here have trouble with dress codes or uniforms in school? or successes too. I'm really interested. :D

It's very nice of your school to give you the option to wear the boys' uniform. It sounds like they have a fairly liberal uniform policy.

I went to an all girls school because ironically it was the only school in the area that didn't force girls to wear skirts/dresses. Just got away with pants and a polo shirt every day.

My first high school had girls' and boys' uniforms, but no one really minded if I went around in my brother's spare stuff. I had a few stern words from the headmaster, but that was that. My second high school didn't have a uniform, thank goodness. They were quite strict about girls' and boys' uniforms for formal events, but I just feigned illness whenever there was a formal event.

Back when I was in high school I don't know if they'd have accommodated me if I'd asked for it, but regardless I attended a boys school during 6th form (the sixth form was mixed, girls were rare, the lower years were boys only) and I decided to start wearing black jeans instead of the uniform skirt one day. Strangely enough nobody noticed or cared, and this was an English school (also a church school) where uniforms are usually something they care about. Nobody challenged me on it in my two years there.

The shirts/ties and blazers were the same for boys and girls so the only thing I changed was the skirt. They were stretch jeans so I guess they looked neater than other kinds. I'm honestly surprised nobody said a thing about it, not the other kids, nor the sixth form headmaster. I guess it blended in somehow. Maybe they all just assumed I had some special permission/reason to wear them, lol. A case of confidence validating itself?

Its funny.
We have schools here, that let girl wear trousers, but dont let boys wear shorts. unless its for P.E. (Gym)
Just recently because it was hot, We had the majority of boys in one school all go wearing skirts.

Most schools in UK, have uniforms. but gender allows variance. Example. Black trousers are on the uniform roster, and anyone can choose them. same with skirts. The thing about the school above was shorts were not on the roster for the standard uniform.

After that strike? Some of the boys retained their skirts and were quite comfortable saying, now that I've tried one, I like it.

How good is that?
I was 25 when i first stopped dressing in drab. so school was long lost in my personal history. But it was nice to see this on the news not long ago

wow. It seems like a lot of dress codes are not as strict as we think.
