40 is not that big, you shouldn't have any problem
finding what you seek online or elsewhere.

Hi all,
40C is what I wear with my forms, 40B without.
The 'Ambrielle' line of bras at J C Penney is a GREAT line!!
I have a white lacey bra in a 40C that looks great peeking out from under a cami
I also have a black and a white seamless pair of bras in 40B.  A couple of notes.
The 40C fits perfect.  The band is right the cups are comfy. I add my 1-1 1/2 cup enhancers and everything looks great! Lots of cleavage!!
Both 40B bras are a little tight!  The cups sit a little closer and I measured the band and it is 3/4 inch shorter than the 40C on both bras.  (Bra extenders took care of the problem!!)
I believe the Ambrielle line goes to 48DD so you should be able to find one for you.  Plus they are on sale!!!
Good luck bra shopping!!  Like most ladies clothes the size varies by manufacturer.  Most of the time I am either a 40 or a 42, depends...
  Huggs,
  Lisa Elizabeth

I have found that anything over 38 is where it becomes hard to find a bra with a B cup (B is just the size I prefer); however there are 40B's out there, but the choice in style becomes very limited.  I have also found that the choice in 38B is somewhat limited, but not as bad as the 40B; however the 38 is a bit on the tight side for me and I am not a big fan of bra extenders.  Eventually, I purchased one from Victoria's Secret that was stretchy enough to where it feels really comfortable.  It is a satin padded bra with embroidery around the cups.  It looks as good as it feels.  I now have 4 of same bra, and when it comes out in different colors, I am always tempted to buy another.

Can't help you - was a 40C and dropped down to a 38C.  Might suggest that, unless your ribcage plainly does not support it, you try to see if you can live with a 38.  The universe of 38Bs is much better than 40Bs.

When your muscle mass drops with HRT, your band size goes down.

For some people, maybe. My band size has never changed. To get a comfortable cup size I have to get a 38b and use two extensions.

If you don't need much support, Barely There® in large or xtra large are pretty comfortable.

Did your weight go up, that would compensate for the muscle loss.
Most women with big band size have excess weight (their frame is much smaller)
How long have you been on HRT.
Unless you had very little pectoral and back muscles, the band size should change
Me, I lost 4 inch around, that's probably because of both muscle and a 30 pound weight loss.

I lost 50 lbs. No change for me. Some of us just got the short end of the stick when they were giving out bodies. Next lifetime, I'm standing in the other line.
