Title: Hiya! My name is Quinn!
Post by: Quinn_Elizabeth on August 15, 2017, 05:04:59 AM
Hiya! My name is Quinn and I started my transition in 2015!

I'm really the only trans person that I know outside of an acquaintance I had in high school that is transitioning from female to male. He pointed me in the path I needed to go in because I was completely clueless.
Essentially, I'm looking for some new online friends!

Here's a little bit about me:
I'm 24 and I live in St. Louis, MO.
I have a strong passion for makeup and makeup artistry. My ultimate goal is to become a makeup artist!
I'm a huge nerd, I love Movies, Books, TV Shows, Video games, and a whole bunch of other stuff. (I'm totally down to talk about 'Game of Thrones')
I'm ridiculously friendly, my boyfriend says I can become best friends with complete strangers if you gave me 10 minutes.
I put everything out there, I spent the first 23 years of my life hiding who I am, I refuse to hide anymore. So really ask me anything. lol

Here's my face (I haven't exactly found out how to change my profile pic yet, I've never joined a forum before 😅):

I can't wait to get to know everyone! I've been a lurker for a while, but I've decided to join in on the fun!

Hi Quinn, welcome to Susan's!

So glad you joined, I've found this place awesome.  I'll try to convince you, actually you do know more than one other transgender person - you will get to know quite a few here.  I sure have.

I am MTF, slightly different age (just 3 decades) and we even live in the same country!  The rumor is it rains more here in Seattle and I suppose that's true.  No worries, I use waterproof makeup.  Hair style hint: around here it's not called bangs, those are rain gutters.

I think makeup artistry is indeed art.  I usually apply a minimal amount (my current avatar photo is typical) but I learned makeup from a professional last year and learned correct contouring etc. for occasions when I want more.  I'll update my profile photo after HRT has time to kick in.  A close friend initially showed me the basics but I seemed to smear stuff on like a six year old finger painting while jumping up and down.  So I hired a makeup artist to come over a few times and show me the art and science behind makeup - her portfolio included the Seattle Seahawks cheerleaders.  (If anyone local wants a referral let me know).  Although hiring a makeup artist might sound expensive I saved money learning the correct way to apply, and understanding what to buy without any sales pressure.  If you're gonna do something, might as well do it right.  Same reason I joined Susan's.

It's great you have a friend point you to the initial path and guidance.  Some of the best advice and interaction I've had here is with individuals all over the gender spectrum as the underlying goal is the same.  Individuals identifying and seeking their best and most rewarding future, and then doing it.

We have some information for all new members and I'll add it here for you.  These are things to help speed up your initial navigation and as a reference to help keep everything running well.

Kendra

Thanks for the links to the site guidelines!

I've always wanted to go to Seattle. Anywhere in the Pacific Northwest really. I love the rain, so to go to a place where it rains all the time sounds like a dream to me! lol

As far as makeup goes, I watched a lot of youtube makeup tutorials and kinda taught myself.
When I was a little kid i would sit on the toilet in the bathroom and watch my mom do her makeup and that's when I became enamored with the whole idea of turning yourself into a more enhanced version. Anytime I smell Covergirl loose powder it immediately takes me back to that time.

I also want to share what I learned to help other girls who are curious or not sure where to get started with makeup. I can literally talk for hours on the subject. 😊

Thanks for the warm welcome Miss Kendra!

Hi Quin,

I'm Laurie, MtF and only a little older than you. Only 2 score years older. Welcome to Susan's Place and do come in and get comfortable. You are a cute young lady for sure. I wish I knew who I was when I was younger but the times back then were vastly different. Such is life.
Like Kendra, I too am in the pacific  northwest a little further south just past Portland, Oregon. I go to mizzery a couple times a year, sometimes more. I get around a little and you never know where I may turn up. My last trip to visit my friends found me in Maine. (I take shortcuts) I'd traveled 8300+ miles and met many wonderful folk from the forums here at Susan's along the way before I made it home.

So welcome again to Susan's and I hope you make lots of friends like I have.

  Hugs,
   Laurie

What a great memory to have.  Now that you mention it, I remember like it was just a few days ago - before I was ten - watching my mom do what she called "putting on her face" although I didn't pay as much attention.  And I can understand how you can smell a brand of powder.  I recently started my Estradiol prescription and was shocked how much it amplified all my senses, including sense of smell.
