Hey! I'm a mtf transgender and as of now have taken no active steps to transition... Can anyone give me some pointers on what might be a good first move to make?
I'd say finding a counselor is a good first step, you'll need them eventually for the transition letter, and it can take some time.

I second that. If you've not spoken with a professional yet, it's a very good place to start. You can talk in confidence in a secure and safe environment. What might follow is an exploration of small subtle steps, and a personal reflection on how you feel about these, if you'd like more, or if you've found a comfortable place that fits you. Good luck. Ive been attempting to locate one and they seem to be in drastically short supply near me :(
I have been researching links to providers and support groups. I may be able to help. What state do you live in. You can also find online therapists that use Skype. If you use Psychology Today make sure they are gender therapists and not connected to any church.
Hey Dawn, I appreciate that. Im in SW Florida, would my city make it any easier?
Hi!
I agree that finding a gender therapist is the best place to start. If there is an LGBT organization near you, they may be able to help you find one.
Use this guide as it is very informative about resources in South FL. https://issuu.com/equalityflorida/docs/transguide_083115
I started by telling a few really close friends of mine, and their support made it a lot easier, and then I finally reached out to a therapist and 4 months later I started HRT :)
