Title: Out @ work
Post by: BabyBoi on August 22, 2017, 02:08:44 PM
I just ask to talk with my CEO of my company if i may talk to him. I am about to let him know what i am doing. Everyone thinks i am male already, what do you all think?

If everyone thinks you are male, why would you be "out", when you could remain stealth. Do you prefer just to be open about it?

What's the point? If everyone already thinks you're male, I personally don't see any benefit to coming out.

I get that transitioning is exciting and new, but I think being overzealous about who you share with is dangerous.

Well, I could understand notifying people if you specifically need accommodations for an upcoming surgery or something? For example, because part of my job involves a lot of over-the-head lifting, there'll be no getting around telling people I'm having top surgery when it's time.

You'd obviously also have to inform HR about a legal name change.

But yeah, beyond that, I don't really see a good reason to come out if you don't have to.

There is no real point in coming out at work if you are already seen as male. Unless you need to change your name and to make sure that everybody calls you by the correct pronouns.
